Ah, better than I expected, thanks.

A much needed improvement that I look forward to witnessing.

However, I am always baffled by the rather limited treatment of actual First passengers. For the price of those tickets I'd want to be escorted through security, to lounge and to aircraft seat minus the various scrums. Really there should be a separate F lane direct to CCR for F passengers (and GC 5000TPers) only... Not that I get to travel in that cabin much!

T1 Zone R didn't offer direct lounge access though - there was a walk through the departure lounge through and past the shops.

Well that's the thing. BA sells those tickets very cheap much of the time. Especially compared to the competition. And then there are all the difficult restrictions of LHR compared to CDG or FRA. Lastly BA sells a huge amount of F tickets so they would need an army of staff to do the escorts.

Rather selfishly I would like to see improved service at least for Gold members traveling in F. But the thing is we don't need escorts as we know our way around LHR. We could use a ride from the CCR to the plane at the B or C gates, but that probably isn't going to be allowed by the airport.

True. The other positive is that Silver and Bronze card holders can't fill up the First Wing so yes, not all bad.

We can when we're flying in F :-)

IIRC, back in the T4 era when the Concorde Room (as I think it was then called) really was the departure lounge for Concorde, there was actually a door that led from check-in to the Concorde Room, was there not ?

I don't think so. You had to go through the whole terminal to get to the lounge area, then go downstairs to the Concorde room and MB Spa.

Maybe you are thinking of JFK? As I recall the CCR (back when Concorde flew) was just behind check in.

Or "none". Which is actually better than LH where, in paid F, I was shooed away from some service uplift at SIN which was for HON people only.

If you're lucky - which probably means not going through with the mass of travellers on US-bound flights. Or finding a day with more than a single passport checker.

I took easily 15 minutes on my last trip. Nice to get direct access to the lounge, but the price was a loooong lecture from a fellow passenger on the solid advantages of Ankara-living relative to Istanbul (number one being Esenboğa staff know how treat real VIP passengers properly.... )

I do find it somewhat odd, even when travelling in CW, to leave the relative tranquility of GC or GF and enter manic terminal, squash on the transit train (ok now I know the better way), and then struggle to find somewhere to sit at the gate amidst the hoverers. I've never travelled in F (first time in a week or so), but I imagine the difference is even more stark. Would be nice to have some sort of more premium (however defined) connection between the lounges and the B/C gates.

"Past" was still very welcome, if one knew to expect and use the corridor that meant that one could avoid actually walking through the shop itself.

You will have nice company on the walk to the gates, I can always stick you in the baby stroller... Your first First experience will unfortunately be tainted by a 1 year old who have just learned to walk... If you fill up on LPGS in the lounge (not to forget the new gin, which is lovely), you can drift off into a long sleep, and hope that said toddler keeps her father busy doing laps through the aircraft

Still plenty of work to do judging by walking past the area on Sunday evening. Looks like it will be impressive when done. Just hope it is by early April it will be finshed - in time for my next F flight ^
