Mostly this is using office and storage space, so there is now a false partition along the First check-in area back wall, work started many months ago, mainly at night. You can see the scale of this from the smokers' shelter referenced above. I imagine there will be one night when the partition will come down, and maybe a day or two of slightly disrupted operations around this period, but I can't see any major outage.

A much needed improvement that I look forward to witnessing.
However, I am always baffled by the rather limited treatment of actual First passengers. For the price of those tickets I'd want to be escorted through security, to lounge and to aircraft seat minus the various scrums. Really there should be a separate F lane direct to CCR for F passengers (and GC 5000TPers) only... Not that I get to travel in that cabin much!

Rather selfishly I would like to see improved service at least for Gold members traveling in F. But the thing is we don't need escorts as we know our way around LHR. We could use a ride from the CCR to the plane at the B or C gates, but that probably isn't going to be allowed by the airport.

Maybe you are thinking of JFK? As I recall the CCR (back when Concorde flew) was just behind check in.

If you're lucky - which probably means not going through with the mass of travellers on US-bound flights. Or finding a day with more than a single passport checker.
I took easily 15 minutes on my last trip. Nice to get direct access to the lounge, but the price was a loooong lecture from a fellow passenger on the solid advantages of Ankara-living relative to Istanbul (number one being Esenboğa staff know how treat real VIP passengers properly.... )

I do find it somewhat odd, even when travelling in CW, to leave the relative tranquility of GC or GF and enter manic terminal, squash on the transit train (ok now I know the better way), and then struggle to find somewhere to sit at the gate amidst the hoverers. I've never travelled in F (first time in a week or so), but I imagine the difference is even more stark. Would be nice to have some sort of more premium (however defined) connection between the lounges and the B/C gates.

"Past" was still very welcome, if one knew to expect and use the corridor that meant that one could avoid actually walking through the shop itself.
