LHR-EWR worth upgrading to WTP for £126?
 

Hi just in the process of checking in for a flight tomorrow morning from Lon to NY and been offered an upgrade to WTP for £126pp before check in. We paid £410 return for the economy tickets.

Is it worth it? The extra leg room and more comfortable seats sound nice but not sure if this ranks as a "good" offer.

Absolutely! 787 in Y is horrendous.

In that case it's not so imperative. But I'd still do it - I think that's good value.

But as ever it depends what difference that money will make to you. If you won't notice it, then go for it. If it means tightening your belt while you're away, not so much.

Odd...it was booked on BA.com!

I read somewhere on here that the POUG invite is not updated in real time. So the likely explanation is that there are no upgrades left. At least you're not on a 787.

Call BA, they may be able to help - worked for me 3 out of 4 times in the past.

The extra TPs and Avios would also make this a very good deal for me.

Having taken my first WTP recently (on a 787), I would say definitely go for it. Cabin just feels much nicer and more spacious.

At a cost of less than £16 per flight hour, I'd take it.

This is the crux of the matter.

Generally speaking I value the additional space at about £20 an hour so £126 for an east coast flight would be within bounds for me. I don't derive much value out of the additional amenities/food but the incremental TPs and Avios usually come in handy too.

Actually, that's pretty much how I see it. I hadn't thought of it quite in those terms but it's spot on. ^
