Am really worried. We are flying from Munich to Heathrow to catch a connecting Malaysia Airlines flight at Night to Kuala Lumpur and we would be in dire straits if there was a strike on the 3rd August with BA.
We are considering flying on Easy Jet now just to avoid this danger...but it would mean flying to potentially Luton, City Airport or Gatwick.
Is it a big hassle getting from either of the 3 airports to Heathrow if we took a lunch time flight into London and then had a 9.50pm flight out of Heathrow Terminal 4?
Just worried about how much travel the kids can handle.

Lufthansa flies from Munich to Heathrow though
Are these separate bookings of BA MUC-LHR and MH from LHR-KUL? if it is a through ticket for MUC-KUL via LHR, you cannot just go and book another flight and catch up at Heathrow

The strike is as a result of a number of issues facing Mixed Fleet Crew. Firstly, the expected salary that was advertised when most people started has turned out to be nowhere near what can be acheived. As this was a new Fleet with a completely new way of working, it wasn't easy to get a precedent on how much earnings could have been. New entrants were told before starting that this was meant to be industry rate plus 10% and this has turned out to be untrue. Whilst other areas of the business have also seen their pay adjusted in line with inflation, Mixed Fleet haven't.
There is a huge mistrust of the company and their management and unfortunately they have indicated to the Mixed Fleet union they won't negotiate any further than a 6p an hour pay rise.

How much does the CEO take home as a pay packet every year out of interest?

If you fly into Gatwick, there is a coach service that will get from Gatwick to Heathrow in under an hour

Yes, separate bookings. We only decided to take the kids to munich last week after securing match tickets for the Audi Cup to watch Liverpool v Bayern Munich.
Will have another look at airfares, etc today.

You've got considerably more chance of being delayed by thunderstorms over central Europe - and in this case all airlines would be affected anyway.
