Club Europe and EuroTraveller will be launched on UK domestic routes on 01 April 2017.
What does this mean for those of us with existing bookings for travel from April onwards?
Earning Avios and Tier Points
Spending Avios
What does this mean for those of us with existing bookings for travel from April onwards?
- If your ticket was booked into J, C, D, R, I, or U fare classes, you will travel in the CE cabin and will enjoy lounge access plus the usual fast track benefits and special meal options that come with CE.
- If your ticket was booked into the Y bucket, you will be rebooked for free into J (Club Europe) and the above benefits will apply. This should happen automatically well in advance of travel. If your ticket was not issued by BA, you should contact the issuing airline to make sure this change is properly processed.
- If your ticket was booked into B, H, K, M, L, V, N, Q, O, S, G fare classes, you will travel in the ET cabin and all elements of the airport and cabin experience will the same as before.
- If your ticket was booked into the X fare bucket (economy class redemption), then you will travel in the ET cabin above. However, if this was part of a longhaul club or first ticket, it may be possible to be rebooked for free into the U (Club Europe) bucket. You will have to call BA to accomplish this change.
Earning Avios and Tier Points
- Q, O, and G class will earn 125 Avios and 5 TP per sector (no change)
- K, L, M, N, S, and V class will earn 250 Avios and 10 TP per sector (no change)
- Y*, B, and H class will earn 500 Avios and 20 TP per sector (no change)
- R and I class will earn 750 Avios and 40 TP per sector
- J, C, and D class will earn 1250 Avios and 40 TP per sector.
Spending Avios
- X will be the redemption class for EuroTraveller
- U will be the redemption class for Club Europe

Reading through the capital markets day presentation - I realise there's a separate thread, but perhaps this warrants its own.
Want a breakfast to compete with the train? Either way, you gotta pay!

Until you see the fares, I suspect the fare difference to be greater than the cost of a sandwich and a cup of tea. It will be either be a non-flexible fare at a ridiculous price or a flexible fare at an insane price a la KLM.

Obvious move - now that CE seating allocation is flexible (i.e. move the curtain) it's easy to do, and with the changes to TP earning already made and BoB coming for Y, there are sufficient 'differentiating' factors to push CE more widely and introduce it for the domestic market

Even better if they called it Domestic First:
Then my wife could have booked in advance her seat Scotland - LHR, on a connection to DEL in F, for free
Instead, the seat genies gave her the middle seat in row 28 in a 767 - which she changed at T-24 for a window seat in row 29.
To be frank, she preferred the Priority Pass lounge in T3 to the (very rude staff) in the BA F lounge there when we went to DEN earlier this year, and is quite happy with the PP lounge in T5.
She finds the lack of advance seat reservation on an F ticket for a domestic flight really annoying and would prefer advance seat booking to CCR access!
(which maybe shows how little she values that, since paying for a seat would cost her under a tenner!)

I suspect some interesting TP runs for the domestic market will start to proliferate on this forum...
I'm almost thinking that with CE on domestic and for 80 TPs (if they follow regular CE TP earning), my "quickest" way to LHR for the start of a long-haul could be LCY-GLA-LHR or something...beats two hours sitting in London traffic or paying through the nose to stand by the loo on the HEX!

It does explain why they recently realigned the CE fares to use I class (not J) on domestic.
Certainly.
On LHR-EDI there will be plenty of corporate traffic. And in any event, some of us do appreciate not being crammed in.
I suspect that it would follow Spanish (mainland) domestic rules, i.e., only 20 points in CD ("Club Domestic"), in line with the current Business UK offering.

Maybe. But then does it mean all business selling classes on domestic flights will now be in the new Club cabin and give lounge access? Currently only J class gives access.
