I have just helped book a return LGW-YYZ for a couple. I wanted to see what aircraft might be planned for the flight and noticed a slight discrepancy between EF and BA source seat plans. WTP on these new refitted aircraft are rows 10-14 on EF but 10-16 on BA Source.

Have I missed something here? Y is definitely ten across on EF and BA source.

A couple of updates and questions:
  • G-VIIY has left for Singapore for a refit. likely towards the end of June, not beginning, as mentioned in WIKI.
  • G-YMMC did a test hop in CWL yesterday. Presumably complete shortly.
  • The second configuration for the YMMx frames I thought was showing as (32J 48W 256Y), a loss of 4 WTP but gain of 4 WT. (Not 32J 48W 252Y as shown in Wiki)

Also Mods do you think this thread should be re-titled to something more general along the lines of Boeing 777 Refit, to allow for all the LHR configurations as well as the inevitable "Which 777's have the new CW seat" along with the new 777-300ER builds coming soon and no doubt their refits. Just a thought. Can still mention the 10 abreast densification but it will be more than just LGW frames in a few months?

From Mr. @corporate-wage-slave in the Boeing 777 Seating Guide Thread (post #514 ): Seating guide: Boeing 777

My suspicion is re-inforced that this is a hybrid seat plan designed to avoid problems later on. LGW has done this before when it put out a seat map which prevented people from choosing seats that may not actually be on the aircraft. So showing this as 32J, 40W prevents problems if it ends up as 48W or 52W or indeed a Flub'd 40W.
Basically it's to cover BA in case of an aircraft swap. LGW are very limited on aircraft and swaps can often occur.

We've got an up-coming Thurs flight in WTP to Cancun. I had assumed this would be on a refurbished plane but checking Flight Radar 24, these lfights have all recently been on G-YMMA / G-YMMR or G-YMMS. I can't even see the last two in the list of aircraft to be done...

Expert flyer would suggest that you will be on MMC, currently under Mx at CWL, first G-YMMx to be refitted. Had a few test flights in the last week so should be out of there soon.

There are are some swaps coming up whereby YMMR and YMMS will return to LHR. YMMC is currently in Cardiff being refurbished. As this is the first of the sub-fleet to be worked on, your chances for this Thursday are very slim. The main thing you will notice is the out of date IFE; I was on YMMD recently and it was largely inoperative!

will BA 2277 be on a refurbished 777-200 departing May 20th?

I suspect I'm going to be disappointed but we'll wait and see. I'm not quite sure how this is going to work on check-in - particularly in WT as the seat plan is shown as densified. I'm imagining there are a few families that will have chosen the middle four which will now be a middle three.

It's beeen the case for months that on Expert Flyer the seating in WTP outbound is the only one on both outbound and return that has been showing as incorrect for a refurbished plane. All the others are consistent with 32J / 52W 252Y. The actual planes flying on a Thursday have all been 48J / 24W / 203Y.

Not wanting to hijack the thread but what is Club World like on these planes? (or can someone direct me a suitable thread?)

I should have paid a bit more attention to this above and also to the number of seats showing in ExpertFlyer...

We're probably on a 48J / 24W / 203Y rather than 32J / 52W / 252Y. The number of seats showing in Y is 20 rows of 10 + 4 i.e. 204 WT seats one over what will actually likely be available and WT isn't full - neither is CW or WTP. In other words, other than disgruntled passengers as a result of "musical chairs" on check-in, I don't believe they will have an issue with having sold non-existent seats. As for us, we bagged a couple of redemptions seats in CW that they added so crap IFE is most probably the worst we'll have to deal with. Tablets already have a few Netflix downloads so we're good to go.

Thank you for the update, @TCX69. No surprise that the VIIs are reducing in F to 8 seats. Presumably, they will get the new club suit seat.

The Wiki has been updated with 777 reconfiguration information and refurbishment dates. Completion date is due to be in October 2021.
Thank you for all this info TCX69.

For the purple config, you’ve put 49J - did you mean 48?

Just going to bump this now an extensive update to the LHR refits have been added. The latter being the important section. Maybe a mod such as the almighty @corporate-wage-slave might have the answers as always. I assume only mods can change the title? Thought it would be a good idea now it is no longer just LGW frames.

As the OP, I give my blessing to the almighty Mods to update the title. Not that they need it

However c-w-s, mighty as he is in so many ways, is not actually a Mod.

Correct, at least not a BA Mod, who exist within a very special planetary level. So I've pressed the Red Triangle to see if the title can indeed be changed to include Heathrow.
