New LHR routes for Summer 2017

Next summer, BA will fly from Heathrow to Brindisi, Zakynthos, Murcia, Pula and Tallinn. In addition, links to Nantes and Montpellier will be revived, flying from Heathrow rather than Gatwick.

The services operate only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, and almost all in afternoons and evenings.

Just to clarify: all the services that you mention operate twice weekly, some days 2 and 6, and others days 3 and 6.

Interesting. Three of them are fairly significantly above 1000miles so there is a possibility of them being short haul + routes for the purposes of TP earning. Whether they are designated as such is not clear since the boundary is not set in stone. There are some routes above 1000 miles which are not short haul + and I think one or two below 1000 miles which do.

LHR-TLL 1126 miles
LHR-BDS 1153 miles
LHR-ZTH 1407 miles

Of them TLL looks like an interesting place to visit.

Shame that with BoB and the poor timings I don't think I will consider these

There are some routes below that which do receive short haul + TPs. I don't think any formal distance limit has been stated by BA.

Yes indeed, I just had in my mind that the un-stated and somewaht variable boundary was around 1200 miles rather than 1000, although not sure if it makes much difference to these new routes.

Would be surprised if Brindisi got the extra TPs since Catania which is further does not.

ZTH seems to be well over so it would be a surprise (although not impossible) if it wasn't designated short haul +. I think there other two are probably uncertain and could go either way.

Loved my few days there, had to fly to HEL then ferry across.

Surprised to see MJV from LHR though!

Hopefully TLL will be 80 tier points in CE.

I have wanted to go there but was put off changing in HEL onto AY or taking the ferry.

A direct flight will be good but the timings are not great for long weekends.

Any idea when this route starts?

Thank you.

Actually Catania is now 80 TPs, whereas PMO, which is 1106 miles is not. My guess is ZAK and TLL will get 80 TPs in CE, the others will get 40 TPs in CE. All of these places have merits, but TLL is a great one for a weekend, a fairly compact if someone hilly old city with a very well preserved old city centre.

This follows a trend: easyJet locations, run from LHR and I suspect like some of the Greek routes from last year will be rammed in both cabins, and not at cheap prices. So buy early would be my advice on most of these, probably less so for TLL and BDS. The one I am most pleased about is Montpellier - a good one for a car hire weekend. BDS is the one that surprised me, BA already serve Bari, which is less than 100 kms away.

I see I have a busy Summer ahead!

Thanks for the update regarding Catania now getting the higher tier points.
