BA to OAK?

Hearing on the grape vine that BA might be about to launch/announce a new route to OAK. Anyone seen or heard similar? Given the schedule to SFO I doubt it but just wondering if it had already been posted elsewhere? I Couldn't bring up anything via a search.

SFO, SJC and OAK? Very, very much doubt it.

If SFO and SJC are overflowing then it's possible... with the cancellation of the lounge expansion at SFO there's no room for another daily flight and AA doesn't have much hub presence, so OAK is a possibility, not because there is O&D demand but as an overflow for the other two.

Would have thought that a second daily to SJC would have made more sense if the demand is there.

Given they (very usefully for me) recently opened up SJC as well as SFO, I highly doubt it.

SFO -> Downtown Oakland is less than an hour on the BART anyway.

If it does turn out to be true, I wouldn't complain as I'm usually in Berkeley once or twice a year.

Surely you would expand an existing station (SJC) first rather than open a new one?

Agree. PDX is way overdue.

Norwegian fly Gatwick to Oakland, BA maybe would start the route to protect its market share akin to the JFK route from Gatwick.

This old and well known story bears repeating I guess...

http://articles.latimes.com/1985-04-...toms-officials

EDIT: Actually you could get around this by flying LHR-OAK-AKL. Except maybe for all the muppets who'd get off half way through the first flight, never to be seen again (probably shot).

Oakland is a pit, noone paying BA's fares would want to arrive there.
