Priority Security T5 Question

Hi all.

Probably a really stupid question but have a memory block lol.

I am gold but my partner is a lowly blue. In t5 Heathrow we have a long layover which is fine but my wife is a smoker.

Question is with us being on the same booking and me Gold if she goes outside to smoke does she get priority Security on the way back in or does she not because I need to be there to get it or is it linked? I will be in GF sampling the champagne lol.

We are both in WT if that makes a difference .

Also can I give my spa appointment to my wife too get me some brownie points lol

1. No priority security for her. Clearly the only solution is for you to earn GGL and give he your gold partner card. There's no link - security just has to let her come through manually, which they do - but I don't think it's even a formal entitlement like guesting is.

2. Yes, you can give her your spa appointment.

Many thanks. Not sure it's worth getting GGL just for that =p

Ah well her having to use normal security can be her punishment for not chucking smoking =D

Disclaimer : If Mrs Cgtechuk reads this. I love you really and no idea who typed the above lol

I thought your guest on the same PNR would have priority security, though not tried it ever. Is this not the case? Just priority boarding and lounge?

I have never had a problem guesting one person (no status) through Fast-Track at LHR: whether or not they were on my PNR. You just tell the guy at the entrance you are travelling together and it seems to work.

Would absolutely not expect this to work for anyone if I were not present, of course - regardless of PNR link or not.

Incidentally - LGW often let me through with up to 3 guests, which is nice when travelling with family!

If you are both airside, then one of you popping outside to smoke hourly isn't going to be a viable option. Doc Copper

I agree, and if the staff in T5 becomes aware of it, they won't facilitate it either. By all means go out and stay out, maybe building that into the connection process, but the whole process could easily take 30 minutes end to end, so you can see why it's not plausible to do this too often.

One option, if you have Priority Pass, is to use the lounge at the Sofitel instead of airside, then pop outside the hotel for the narcotics experience, before entering T5 airside an hour or so before departure.

It is a guaranteed benefit to take a guest through Fast Track only at LHR and LGW terminals.

Sometimes, if they're in the same PRN as me, they've had 'fast track' on their boarding passes, but more often than not there's no mention of this on the boarding pass; in those cases I've had to be there as someone points out above, the barriers don't let you through and they have to manually let the guest pass through.

To be fair I think it might have been an exaggeration on my part to say once an hour perhaps twice max during the connection max.which I am hoping should be ok.

I assume one would just follow signs for baggage collection as if just arrived to get outside then go back through security at check in yeah ?

I do have priority pass but want to experience GF as my first time as gold.

If you go with her you MIGHT be able to get her through the FT security with you

if she goes on her own then then barrier will not open for her

And repeatedly going landside for a smoke will not be an option

She has a decision to make, stay airside and not smoke, or go landside and stay there till she is ready to stop smoking before the flight

The easiest option will be for OP to enter T5 via flight connections while his wife clears immigration and customs, enters the UK and has a smoke outside.

When ready, wife enters T5 via normal security as with the card holder not being present there will be no fasttrack.

If you have a long lay over and fasttrack frankly makes little difference most of the time, this should work fine.

However, waiting for the once an hour escort out of T5 might not be ideal!

I thought spa appointments were not transferable. But I suspect in practice you'd get away with it.

Hi all thought I would provide an update. Mrs cgtechuk decided not smoking would be a better idea after I explained how complicated it makes things and has decided to enjoy the champagne in GF instead lol

Put of curiosity which is the best galleries first ? North or south ? Or are they in fact both the same with same food choice etc

We are here 2pm till 8pm

Thanks all
