BA945 DUS to LHR, 3 hour delay [15 Sep]

I'm sitting in DUS and the BA app is showing a 3 hour delay but there's nothing showing on the departure boards ... can anyone tell me if this is realistic before I call home and break the good news?

It doesn't seem as if the French ATC strike is causing too much trouble here.

It looks like there is a problem with the outbound BA 944, planned to be operated by G-EUXL which has arrived at 15:10 from FCO, but which seems not to have left LHR yet (already ~ 1.5 hrs delay by now). [Source: flightradar24]

That's nothing. Just have a look at BA956 LHR-MUC tonight and see a) how much it is delayed by and b) when it is due to arrive.

So much so, that the return BA957 MUC-LHR is now scheduled to depart just after 1am and land at LHR at 1.55am UK time.

Let's see if a) the Munich lounge has enough chicken goujons and Weißbier to keep folks happy and b) whether LHR is still open, once the plane makes it back to the UK.

LHR is open H24, it just becomes extremely expensive in the night!

Even earlier, last take-off 11pm (must be off blocks by 22.50), unless special permission is obtained, which in the absense of any unusual ops at DUS itself won't be granted, and then it is extended for an hour.

Jet2 and flybe often go to CGN and bus their pax if the last rotation is delayed. BA will usually cancel before they do that because they don't want to pay the fee for the late landing at LHR.

Consider yourself lucky to have chicken goujons!

I'm stuck in the Karl-Jatho lounge in Hannover waiting for the BA979. We've only got peanuts and crisps

Given that it is approaching 21:20 in DUS right now, and BA 944 has not left LHR yet as far as I see, this looks like ending in a cancellation.

DUS-LHR cancelled, hotels & etc. provided. They did a good job to organise this, although I was near the front of the queue, the people at the back might disagree.

While BA944 just took off, estimate to arrive DUS at 22:42.

Not at all surprising that they cancelled it. Good to hear it was dealt with fairly well from your point of view, the BA guys at DUS are really good and one of the many reasons it's my preferred airport around here (unlike the miserable aviapartner lot at BRU).
