Forward the BA e-ticket to yourself, but delete all the bits that you don't want before sending. You can then print the new email. This takes about a minute on an ipad, and 30 seconds with a mouse. (And to save even more ink make sure the font is sans serif, 8pt.)

If you look at the context to my comments you will see I was responding directly to a comment in post 66 about Africa.

Which countries in Africa do you need to carry paper documents to enter then?

Has anyone on here ever been denied access to a country for not having a paper copy of an eticket?

Anyhow to cut a long story short, with the persistent issues with FLY etc I can't see much BA resource being diverted onto this in the near future when there are pretty easy workarounds available for those who wish involving a couple of sheets of A4 and some double sided printing.

Don't forget, two posts later advises that he was asked for an itinerary at an airport, yet was able to bluff his way out of it by showing a passport...

Yes they try that routine at Nairobi too, at the Xray on entry to the terminal. My reply is always "it's an eticket" and they then take look at my passport. Works 100% of the time.

Try entering an airport in India without a printed ticket!

My only experiences are at Delhi (x2), Mumbai (x6) and Bhubaneswar (x6) and Kolkata. At each one the standard operating procedure is for the armed soldiers to request to see something printed. Yes, it's possible to talk your way in without it and I've done it once but it makes life a lot easier if you have something printed. It's the only time I feel the need to print an e-ticket.

Yes, I agree that the SOP is for them to ask for a paper copy. But in half a dozen or more experiences, I've had no issue saing I don't have a paper copy and a couple of times I haven't even had to show my phone version.

As I said up front, just because you are asked for the paper copy doesn't mean it's a problem if you don't have it.

I am sure there will be cases where it might be troublesome, but I've yet to find any.

A good workaround is to view the BA booking through QR website. It gives a nice, one page PDF summary, including fare details (it even lists the addition taxes for my next RFS redemption).

Good point OP. A single sheet of A4 with:
* Full summary Itinerary (incl. booking code per segment, departure and arrival times &dates and terminals)
* Fare paid, broken down by Fare + Taxes w/ simple base fare breakdown (LONNYC AA-IAPEX42D £400, NYCLON BA-JFLEX £1500, YQ £300, Real Taxes and Charges £290, Total: £2490). Format to be tax invoice compatible: Billing person, company, Address and CC used.
* Summary of ticket rules: changes, cancellations, baggage
* barcode to scan at the airport check-in kiosk to launch check-in for the next flight

At CGK & SUB in Indonesia, I have always been requested to show a paper copy of my ticket before entering the check in areas. Once I've checked in and go back outside for a nicotine hit, the boarding pass is suffice to re-enter.

I do like the EK PDF E-Ticket receipts. Nice format, less paper.

ETA: I remember when the e-tickets started becoming the norm and certainly places like India & Africa, it was difficult to get entry in to the check in areas without a paper copy. We always used to get BA to print a copy out on our outbounds and carry them with us for these eventualities.

Data point. Entered India through Ahmedabad today. Only had to show my eVisa. No need for ticket - they didn't even ask if I had one let alone ask to see it.

This is something that BA should fully understand and do.

I often have to handover a wad of some 70 pages for Visa Applications

I guess BA haven't thought through the environmental impact of printing out their e-ticket/itineraries. I have a simple roundtrip for myself and family JFK-LHR-FCO. The PDF print is 12 pages. Looking at the information, all of the essential information can fit into not more than 2 pages. It's waste to of paper to print out all this paper. Thinking also of countries like India where you need to show an itinerary to enter the terminal building, this is just hassle to print and carry with you. Surely BA can think this over and improve this.
