Avios Upgrade CW to F release
 

We have an upcoming flight from SEA to LHR in CW and I received an offer to upgrade both of us for $950 each which I will not do as it is much too high. I would however exchange 50,000 Avios to upgrade both of us and was wondering if there is any standard timeline where BA would typically release these seats for Avios upgrades?

We were in F last summer on an award and very much enjoyed the experience, even got 1A & K

There is no guaranteed release of F seats, nor are upgrade seats any different than regular avios availability. You just need to check frequently for released seats, but don't hold your breath.

there is no timeline for releasing F redemption seats or even any guarantee that there will be any released (unlike CW and Economy which have 2 and 4 seats released at T-355)
All you can do is keep checking regularly - you can check as if you were making a full redemption as it is the same bucket that is used for upgrades

Look up A class inventory on your flight - if that's still a high number two weeks before your flight then there's a reasonable chance some seats might get released - but this is by no means guaranteed.

As others, no certainty in any case, but F award space on West Coast routes is limited, and the chances of seeing two seats open if none are available is well below 50%.
