BA Ticket but IB-BA-CX Flight - Which check-in at MAD?

Travelling to Oz in July from MAD-LHR-HKG-SYD on IB, BA & CX respectively (in Y for short-haul and WTP/PY for the long hauls)... It's a BA 125 ticket... do I checkin at the BA or Iberia desks at MAD?

Travelling with my partner on a separate (but 'linked') ticket - originally it was the same but we had to split it due to the reward availability on the return (to upgrade to J) happening at different times. We're sat together on all flights.

As OWE is there any issue at any of the airports with guesting at check-in, security and priority boarding? I know priority boarding rules for guests are non-existent and in practice it varies but keen to know of your experiences.

On return journey we have a 4 day stopover in HKG so looking forward to trying the QF lounge in SYD and the Wing and Pier in HKG (will cram in QF lounge too if I get time but doubt it).

Check in with the operating carrier of the first flight. In this case, that looks like Iberia.

Iberia handle BA anyway at MAD, but yes, go to the IB desks earmarked on the screens for your IB flight.

For Fast Track at MAD, I'd just breeze in with Silver card in hand, IB does give its Golds a single guest entitlement.

As far as I know you always check in at the desk of the operating carrier you are flying with from the airport in question.

Operating carrier, unless it's a wetlease or franchise/capacity purchase arrangement, such as Jettime, Envoy, etc., where those operating airlines just pretend to be the bigger airline. Then check-in at the desks of whoever the operating carrier is pretending to be.

Who issued the ticket doesn't come into it.
