Isn't that the idea, make standard security so bad you'll miss your flight if you don't pay the Ł5. Then once that becomes accepted it's Ł10, then Ł20 next year, etc.

BA is claiming that all of the first weekend's flights have sold out and an additional frequency to Malaga has been added for August:

Given how tight the turnarounds are for these flights, I do hope the celebratory press release doesn't prove to be premature.

I was told that BA are looking at a Cityflyer base from MAN flying to some bucket & spade destinations over the summer months using aircraft from LCY.
Might be just speculation but I thought I would share it.

Don't think we would see the unions allowing cityflyer to operate longhaul to be honest as cityflyer don't have aircraft with the legs to reach NYC or ORD

The cabin crew at least were Connect the 767 was MAN based and dedicated to the route
From what I've read these routes would switch from AA due to the slow down in new aircraft coming on property (which is true and public). They could easily be operated on a LHR-JFK-MAN-JFK-LHR etc circuit so it's all adding up to be not totally unfeasible - especially as Norwegian are rumoured to be launching the route so surely BA will soon follow!!
