Given the choice, BA CW: 747, 777 or 787
Hi
I'm flying from London to New York with BA in Club World and wondered what your recommendations would be to the aircraft.
Times aren't a problem, which is why I am focussing on aircraft type now. Never flown with BA so any advice will be appreciated.

I would always opt for the upper deck of the B747. Only 20 seats there so quite calm and private.
Be aware that if you do not have status (oneworld sapphire or emerald) or are travelling on a flexible fare, you will have to pay for seat selection with BA.

When are you flying? If far off and you opt for the 747 BA often changes aircraft around between 747/777. If you have no status the seat selection for a couple of people upstairs is quite pricey. I'd also add into the mix doing one leg in AA and flying their 77W business class. Maybe do BA one way and AA the other; then report back your findings

Another vote here for 747 if you can select the UD seats!
It's worth also looking at the BA01 from LCY to JFK, more info here http://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/...ld-london-city

Thank you to you all for your replies and the friendly welcome.
I will definitely look at booking on the 747.
I am also going to consider First (I'm celebrating a big birthday) but more than likely one way - outbound flight.
Given that I would like to fly First going and Business on my return, which (or possibly both legs) would leg of the journey would you recommend flying with AA? I was pretty firmly set on BA but your posts have given me food for thought to consider AA.
Many thanks

You wouldn't want the 787-800 or A318 services since they don't offer First, and I don't think the 787-900 has got to NYC yet.

If after (I think?) Apr 2 - you can get 787-9 to EWR and get First one way, returning AA 77W
Again, depends on when you are going.. Why not have a little look at my snaps on link below to see the new 787-9 First

Just some more food for thought - are you starting your journey in Heathrow or not fussed? If open to possibility of starting in Dublin you can get outbound First return in Club / Business for Ł1200
