BA operated by Sun Air service
Used some Avios to book GOT-AAR return (much more cost efficient than the scandalous prices BA were wanting to charge). Had to do it over the phone as the website was having an off day.
The nice lady I spoke to went through the usual rigmarole: "This is a flight operated by Sun Air on behalf of British Airways, it is a no smoking flight and there will be a meal served on board".
Is she serious? 30 min flight..... Surely not?!
Anyone had any experience with this route? Am looking forward to trying out the tiny wee plane!

Yes they do provide a meal on that service, I think I got a reasonable potato salad, cheese and crackers. There won't be so many other passengers so there is time for it.

I was about to say that they were incredibly expensive on the aforementioned Cambridge to Gothenburg route (when I looked last year they were 220) but they're now available at a very reasonable 78. Might give Sun Air a try myself sometime.

I am quite surprised since the lowest return fare available via a GDS (i.e. Expertflyer) is 130 one-way (fare basis VOWV) and 180 return (fare basis VRT).
There is of course RFS availability, 2 seats on most flights, but cash fares are as above as far as I know.

I get the feeling most of Sun-Air's routes are run on a similar, if less public, basis.

Where are you seeing this fare?

I'm aware of the Astra Zeneca tie in. I wonder what the loads on this route are like.

Sun-Air are not really interested in selling these flights to the public. AstraZeneca underwrite this route and as part of that, the company has a guarantee it gets access to all but two of the seats at late notice, if required [so I understand].

You are correct. Minimum price now shows as 177. Must have had the wrong departure airport in the search when I did it yesterday (probably London, as ba.com loves to have that as the default when you do searches). Sorry for misleading!

General gossip seems to indicate the loads are typically about 5 people each way, but if AZ are paying for 10 minimum then Sun-Air is sitting pretty. AZ has not nearly moved all its people to Cambridge yet so I expect that to increase, if they can persuade Marshalls to keep the airport operating the flights.
