Severe weather disruption to east coast US flights 21-24 Jan

Still early but forecasts suggesting a potentially significant snowstorm for the east coast (Washington to Boston) from Friday pm through Saturday. My interest is that I'm booked to fly to JFK on Saturday for Sunday's Springsteen concert 🌨

Shouldn't it be into EWR for a Springsteen concert?

Should be some good video on the news of DC drivers in the snow.

Ugh. Tell me about it.

I have a 2:20 departure from IAD on Friday. I hope to God that beats the snow, because I am NOT in the mood to run the Rt. 267/28 Mad Max snow gauntlet this year. From what I'm reading though I may just make it in under the wire - but the way they predict weather in the DC area, it'll either be 10 inches by then or nothing will happen at all..

I have to get to Leesburg, luckily not planning on picking up a hire car at IAD.

Oh great. I'm flying into JFK on Friday and out Sunday. If the heavy snow is on Saturday, does experience suggest JFK will be up and running again by Sunday afternoon?

It depends on how much snow there is, but JFK is good at handling snow.

same - to JFK on Friday, back Sunday.

my flights are really empty as well so am hoping it either stays that way (with lots of space), or there's consolidation of flights with bumps required.....

Last year, the Weather Channel had a man with a measuring stick standing at some traffic lights in Providence RI. Funniest TV I'd seen for ages

Last year when BOS got hit with the record snow, I was flying to DCA every Sunday and returning to BOS every Friday. It snowed, starting in January, almost every Sunday. Sometimes I would leave at 1000 on Sunday. Sometimes I would leave at 2100. One time, I left at 0200. You just have to be flexible. Perhaps, this was the one occasion where decent FF status helps.

Sitting around waiting for BA/AA to issue a travel waiver so I can move up my Saturday morning flight to Friday morning.

It's not the snow I'm worried about so much as the wind forecast. Right now we're looking at 25-30mph with gusts up to 40. Pretty sure that might mean cancelled flights.
