Ah, this not so lovely problem. Last time I was in your situation with a standby for F I got the correct booking class. However once before it was wrong and then it took me 2 months of battles with BA/AA to get it right.

I think this is one for the GGL team to sort out after showing the original booking. It is most likely AA that have to change their 'reward' to the BAEC.

I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Booked in F on AA, missed connection, downgraded to Y the following morning and then upgraded again at the gate. Ended up flying in F but only awarded 20 points. I emailed the GGL team with the original boarding pass, the new Y one and the new F one and had a response back the same day to tell me the extra points would be awarded (although they have yet to turn up I'm sure they will).

Does anyone know if BA reduces the number of F seats available via joker on the 789? I would be surprised if they make more than half of the F cabin available for jokers, given that all other cabins are at least 14 seats.

The same rules apply. At the end of the day, there aren't that many Jokers and 789 F awards take a lot of miles. In other ways, I can't imagine that 5 F seats on a 789 route are Jokered more than a handful of times a year that 5 F seats on a 789 are booked with a Joker.

The no jokers on city flyer is a really dumb annoyance. I can't see any valid reason for it. CityFlyer is a wholly owned subsidery as far as I'm aware? I just can't see why LHR-IBZ is fine for GPR and jokers but LCY-IBZ isn't. Seems entirely arbitrary.

Furthermore, you'd think BA would be happy for us to burn Jokers on CityFlyer vs. taking up 5 F seats to LAX.

I saw 5 redemption F seats available on the SJC route in F on one date I was looking at a few weeks ago.

Now THAT I was surprised about.

joker needs A class availability, doesn't it?

so the question is less 'does BA restrict jokers in smaller F cabin' but more 'does BA have fewer A class seats in a smaller F cabin' surely?

Yes, indeed. It will be handled in this way as normal by revenue management without the need for special cases based on aircraft type.

While true, the GGL line called revenue management for me on a flight with less than 5 A class seats available and had them opened up so we could complete our booking. As others have said, I'm not sure there are many others who will take advantage of booking 5 on the same flight in F.

Yup! It's a bit of an odd one. Especially when some routes on their network are heavily centred on CityFlyer (IBZ in the summer) if not solely served by it. With no gold priority reward and OB points being worthless it basically means booking 355 days in advance and then cancelling closer in or (shock horror) buying tickets with cash on CityFlyer. And I object to paying cash for short haul leisure flights on principle

GGL:2 Silver + 1 Gold to give away

Hi everyone,

I need some clarification to confirm my understanding. Assuming:

Year 1: Earn 5,000 TP
Qualify for GGL: Yes
Qualify for CCR: Yes
Qualify for 1 Gold and 2 Silver: No - only when qualify in Year 2.

Year 2: Earn 3,000 TP
Requalify for GGL: Yes
Requalify for CCR: No
Qualify for 1 Gold and 2 Silver: Yes or No? (Do I need to hit 5,000 TP in Year 2 to get this?)

Year 3: Earn 3,000 TP
Requalify for GGL: Yes
Qualify for CCR: No
Qualify for 1 Gold and 2 Silver: Yes or No? (Is this a perk of GGL or a perk of 5,000 TP i.e. same class of benefit as CCR)

Please help. The BA website is not very clear - It doesn't help that it does not publish GGL benefits as a separate piece.

Everything - with the singular exception of the CCR card - is a GGL benefit but you need 5,000 TPs the first year to become GGL.

I have modified your points above.

Thank you golfmad.

But if I may, what does the following refer to, as listed in the beginner's guide at the start of this thread,

"Also note that when you first qualify for GGL, you will not receive a new batch of partner cards until you qualify again for GGL. So reaching GGL right before the end of your tier point year will not earn you double the number of partner cards in a short stretch of time."?

You indicated through your modifications that I will get the 1G & 2S partner cards. Sorry if I'm being thick!

It means you get a set when you first qualify but you don't get another set when your year ends (unlike, I belive, the jokers).

You have to requalify THEN you get a new set of partner cards.
