As it happens, I've probably covered 4,000 TPs with BA this year, with the remainder being 80% and 20% AA.

Great service from GGL line just now - without me even asking they used an expired GUF (I had to cancel the original booking it was used on after its expiry date) rather than a 'live' one. Now I need to work out what I can use for the one expiring tomorrow (after 6 month extension) for...
Joker + expired GUF + 500 + ~85k Avios not a great use of things vs. cash fares (2.3k on BA to KUL, QR not offering Bali at sensible prices just now), but can always cancel and get the joker back if something attractive comes up.

Made a quick update to the guide. Basically if you do not have access to the relevant GGL email address, a note to http://www.britishairways.com/travel...r/public/en_gb with your BAEC number will end up in the hands of the GGL team.

though I didn't get an email offering me my choices at 8k and 9k, I called to make them yesterday and got a "your response from British Airways Executive Club" email today - see below. never had a "it's nice to hear from you" before.......
Dear Mr chris1979,
Thank you for contacting the Club - it's nice to hear from you.
As one of our most frequent fliers, we're delighted to offer you the choice of extra Gold Upgrade vouchers when you reach seven, eight or nine thousand Tier Points.
I've now added vouchers: #XYZ1, #XYZ2, #XYZ3, #XYZ4 to your Executive Club account.
You can combine Gold Upgrade vouchers with any of our published fares or even an Avios reward flight, and you have until 03 June 2017 to make a booking before your vouchers expire.
If youd like more information on how to redeem Gold Upgrade vouchers, please log in to your account at ba.com.
Thank you again for choosing British Airways and I hope you continue to enjoy the benefits of your Executive Club membership.
If you would like to contact me again about this case please click on this link:

Best regards

I was under the impression that two subsequent years of 3,000 TPs is also good enough to qualify. Not sure where I got that, but as this will
be a 3K year for me, I'm hoping I'm not hallucinating.

I fear things have changed (I got to GGL that way). I understand that you need one year of 5,000 TPs to become GGL and then 3,000 yearly to maintain it.

It used to be the case you could qualify with two years of 3000 but that stopped last year I think. Now you can only qualify be achieving 5000 in one year. Once qualified you can keep renewing at 3000.

I shall never get 5K in a year, but two years of 3K was achievable for me.
I missed out on this enhancement

However, qualification under the old rule of 2 years x 3k would not have earned CCR access, that needed 5k before and after the changes. The changes just mean that any new GGL is also CCR, but renewing for 3-5k would keep only GGL, not CCR.

Er yes it is true. Not sure why you needed another opinion on it, I don't tend to make things up. In any case it is also stated in post #1 of this thread.

As a newly minted GGL I used one of my jokers + Guf2 + 130,000 avios + taxes to send my brother and his girlfriend NCL-LHR-SFO//LAS-LHR-NCL in J.
Will be their first experience of J and got them UD on the 747/380.

It was originally announced in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...-criteria.html
This might sound strange, but with some careful planning, I found it roughly equivalent to reach 5000 than in years when I didn't really try and reached 3000 tier points. Basically small adjustments to make sure I was taking flights that were just over instead of just under 2000 miles.
We are very lucky and fortunate to have so many great people in this forum sharing their expertise.

Thanks dylanks, I think it's certainly great you did this guide - some of which I didn't know - so I am not sure I would be any more of an expert than yourself.

Karfa, please accept my most humble apologies. I now understand that when you said "I think", that you were referring to the date of the change, and not the possibility of the change.
Never, ever would I question the word of a FlyerTalk devotee. There are some rules in life.
I was hoping that this might be the one thread where I didn't tick anybody off. Where' my vodka?
