Your 2015 BA year

Just an innocent thread to compare and do a bit of willy waving at the end of the year. I know I will not win, there is a couple of people on this board whose willy is bigger than all of us combined
Also an opportunity to open the discussion on the April 2015 changes and if they have affected you.

Miles flown: 33 000 with BA, 78 000 total
Segments: 42 with BA, 94 total (remaining in order: SK, LH, VS, WF, AA, IB, OS, CX, UA, QR, EK)
Classes: BA: 30 Y 1 W 11 J, Total 67 Y, 4 Y+, 21 J, 2 F(intra US)
Reason: 40% Business, 60% Leisure

Avios earned: 118 001 (100 689 BIS/ 17 312 Non flying)
Avios burned: 47 500

Airports visited: ABZ, LHR, LGW, LCY, SVG, FRA, MAD, DUB, JER, BIO, TRD, OSL, CDG, ORY, VIE, LUX, BUD, HKG, ICN, DOH, DXB, SNN, JFK, IAH, DFW, MSY, CLT, CPH, TPE)

The good:
- BA is 50% of my travel, I am globally happy with them.
- BA1 this year was fabulous, another JFK-LHR flight was great service
- CE is valuable if cheap. I like the atmosphere and catering.
- The 28th April changes did not affect me really (yet maybe). I used less UuA and more I fares during sales. Most of my cheap flights are in the 50 % TP category, same as before.
- I renewed Silver comfortably, with just over 1000 TPs in total.

The bad:
- The lack of training of the ground crew and some cabin crews. There is a huge inconsistency of policy enforcement depending on who is manning the gate, checkin desk, queues ....
- The short haul seats. Unfortunately it is the same in Europe everywhere now: LH seats are infamous, SK has installed slim seats on its 737 which are as bad.
- Customer service and communication are abysmal. Comparing with the other airlines I had to use CS, BA is at the bottom of the barrel.
- CW seat: I travel J long-haul with other airlines than BA this year and for all of them I found the hard-product superior than BA. I think this will change a few thing for my travel plans next year.

Mine doesn't come close, but here we go:

Airports: LHR, LGW, SNN, LCY, NRT, MCO, JFK, BHD, GVA (still to come this year: YYC, YYZ)

Y:5 J:7 F:2

NRT and YYC/YYZ paid via AMEX 2 for 1 and Avios, rest cash and cheapo I fares. Unusually no Ex-EU this year.

Think I'm over 120 segments so far, well over 100 with BA - but won't come close to many people here on distance given preponderance of LON-GLA/DUB flights in those numbers! Think I've only done about 5 or 6 flights outside OneWorld from that lot (2 Cityjet, 2 Aer Lingus and 2 Alaskan I think)

More data from the lower end of the scale...

Miles flown: 77,000; 22,000 with BA
Segments: 48; 14 with BA
Reasons: 30% work, 70% leisure

Last edited by EuropeToAsia; Dec 12, 15 at 9:53 am Reason: maybe comprehensive list of airports makes it too easy for BA to link FT handle with BAEC account

My busiest year by far. Last highest was in 1997 with 13, with many years of 0 in between.

Total 20BA, 4AA, 4FR, 4VR

16J, 16Y

Technically only 4 flights were business related, i.e. not paid for by me - but was more leisure, except for the 20 students who were with me at the time!

30 cash, 2 RFS.

Earned around 175k avios, but majority of these were from CC/Tesco/TCB. Maybe 50k from flights.

Airports: MAN, DUB, LHR, LCY, LGW, AMS, JFK, LAX, LAS, MIA, MCO

No more flights planned for this year, with 8 planned for next - all in Y. I think I need to get something sorted or will be having withdrawal symptoms.

AA: 5 segments
IB: 4 segments (by this time tomorrow)
CX/Dragonair: 1 segment, 1 more to go
Alaskan: 2 segments
EI: 2 segments

On BA I have done a total of 17 sectors 10 in F, 6 in CE and 1 in Club on Comair. Airports visited SAO, LAX, RAK (x2), DEN, NBO, AGP, JNB, CPT, LHR and LGW. Total Miles 60,494. All revenue flights paid for by me and I am now within touching distance of Lifetime Gold which I should hit in January when I fly in J return to CMB on UL!

All flying complete for me for a year in the air that I hope shall not be repeated.

Miles Flown: 218,000 (182,000 with BA)
Segments: 65 (52 with BA)
Classes: Y 75%, J 20% (when QR convinced my employer to take pity on me with one of their incredible Ex-EU sales), F 5%.
Reason: 80% work (mostly comprising of at least monthly trips down the back to HKG and/or SIN. Thank goodness for seat 80A on the A380!)

6F, 11J, 2W, 15Y
LHR, LGW, MAN, AMS, DOH, RUH, LAX, SFO, BKK, HKG, BOS, CPH, KRK, LAS, ORD, MLA
