Question: Avios and TP earning on AA ticket, operated by Alaska

A question for the experts here:

Took a flight in September from Seattle to San Francisco. Booked with AA, so AA issues ticket / flight number, but operated by Alaska (their metal). I put in a claim with BA for any Avois / Tier Points from the flight, and had two replies.

The first said that the points had already been credited (with nothing showing in the account). When I replied to say nothing is showing, the second says that

"Flights operated by Alaska Airlines but sold as American Airlines do not earn Avios or Tier Points, so I'm sorry to say we are unable to credit your account. To earn Tier Points on most partner codeshare flights, both the operating airline and marketing airline must be oneworld partner airlines."
I'm sure its only a small number of Avois and Tier Points I'd earn, but a bit surprised as the BA website says "Executive Club Members can collect and spend Avios and earn Tier Points on all American Airlines flights" and BA, of course, have an arrangement for earning Avios (but not TPs) on flights booked direct with Alaska.

Is the second reply from BA right?

If I'm out of luck, I'm out of luck, but 'every little helps' and would be nice to get them if I could. Thanks for your time and help.

Note: if it's of any relevance, the flights were booked prior to the changes of the 28th April, but taken after.

Yes, they are correct on the basis you booked AS metal but under the AA codeshare and on an AA issued ticket.

Flights on AS metal
As reported here, as of 26 January 2015 flights on AS metal flown under the AS number or AA metal flown under the AS codeshare earn avios only, AS metal flown under the AA codeshare earn no avios or TPs.

Flight with AS - earn Avios
Flight with AA metal, AS codeshare - earn Avios
Flight with AS metal, AA codeshare - nothing (previously earned both TPs and Avios)

I am afraid BA is correct on this one - you don't earn avios and tier points on Alaska Airlines when booked with AA.
The only exception from that rule I know about is EK operated flights under QF code.

Also see the table at the bottom of this page:

If you refer to the "Will I collect Avios and Tier Points?" table here:
http://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/...-avios/flights

You will see that a flight code marketed under a oneworld alliance partner (AA) but operated by an Other airline partner does not earn avios or TPs.

Thank you for your (very) quick and detailed replies. Much appreciated. Frustrating, but clearly per the rules.

Thanks again.

I flew SEA-LAX this summer, booked with AA but operated by AS. I didn't earn anything as well. Thanks for the explanation.
