BA code flights within asia.

with the CX MPO game changes, i've started to look into the BA program: CMB-HKG-CTS gets 140 TP/leg, same as HKG-LHR. but BA has a 4 flight requirement.

When QF have this same requirement we can deal with it with Jetstar. is there a way we can deal with that without needing to go to london, sydney, BAH-DOH, or AUH-MCT? too bad CMB-MLE is gone otherwise it would have been perfect!

For a start, see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ghts-asia.html (and the threads linked to from there).

BA metal, IB metal or BA codeshare is allowed. Now there are plenty of codeshares around, but normally codeshares require a connecting BA service, almost always to or from London. One way to handle that is to book a very long stop over, so an early BA codeshare flight (on CX or whatever) to somewhere close and link that in to a long distance BA metal flight later on. The early flights will credit within a few days in the usual way.

What is quite incredible is BA4564 and BA4561, which are Malaysia services between KUL and HKG, but which can be bought standalone on BA.com in the usual way. These would be considered eligible flights, however they're not cheap services. I seem to recall one or two other similar Malaysia flights but you'll have to dig for them. Be careful when buying or amending the booking to ensure it is not booked into MH prime.

Yes, a slightly better choice, if you have lounge access, is AMS-LHR-NCL, easy to do as a back to back. The very easiest I can think of is LHR-NCL-LHR-NCL-LHR, for which there is no security check after entering LHR initially - which there would be on AMS-LHR-Anywhere. EDI is often cheaper than NCL and with a lot more flights, but there is a very small risk of not getting back to the departure gate there. With back to backs you typically have to buy single rather than return tickets.

Just because it is collected by HM Revenue & Customs does not mean that the money goes to HM. - It is HM's agency, not HM's tax (very important point).

Also it ("queens tax") is not a term that is used (by anyone). Use of it suggests possible cultural ignorance (not understanding the nature of the government of the UK) and/or could be seen as being offensive.

Sorry to bump this old thread but is there a comprehensive list of BA codeshares in Asia? I am trying to book SVG-SYD using GUF2 so need all BA coded flights, but ideally want to go via places like PEK, HKG, SIN, and/or TPE, so any codeshares on MH and CX would be helpful.

I've applied a GUF1 on a ticket with BA & CX (coded) flights without a problem, upgrading the BA flights only...

But have you done that on a BA ticket issued by BA or a travel agent? I will need a travel agent as there is no award space and I have 4 BA operated segments and I want to upgrade all (LHR-PEK;SIN-SYD-SIN; HKG-LHR).

Issued by BA. Applied a few days after booking.

Not sure how much this helps as I think most / all can only be booked as connections to LHR BA flight. And not many between those points that you mention.

Within SE Asia:
