Just tried to book online with United (domestic US I hasten to add), and the system wouldn't accept my leap year birthday

That's because there aren't 29 months in the year!

At least when united.com detects UK the dates switch to dd/mm/yyyy. Though, YYYY-MM-DD (ISO8601) is The One True Way.

I have a Leap Year birthday as well and just made a new booking on United.com as a guest (set to UK dates) and had no issue. Can you share a screenshot?
