BOS-DUB costs more now?

Perhaps I am not using the web page properly, but I tried the Avios estimator for a flight from BOS-DUB in economy and I am getting 17000 instead of the old 12500 miles. Has this changed recently?

No.

Sounds like it might be giving you the cost of an off-peak BA-BA connection routing via LON. If you call and can get the BOS-DUB EI nonstop, the cost should be just 12,500 Avios one way in Economy.

Question

I thought the redemption costs on this route had gone up? I called yesterday to make a reservation and was quoted 75,000 Avios for a return Aer Lingus Business from DUB to Boston whereas before Aprils "enhancement" I ticketed at 50,000........

Thoughts?

DUB-BOS is 2993 miles according to gcmap (I think BA has it at 2985 miles) so should fall in to band 4 for redemptions.

Prior to 28 April the redemption rates one way were:
Y -12,500
J -25,000

After 28 April the redemption rates one way are:
Y -12,500
J -37,500

Note that partner flights are always charged at peak rates.

So Y is unchanged, but J has gone up and a return is now 75,000 avios rather than 50,000 avios.

Thanks for the clarification

Is it inevitable that EI adds fuel surcharges to redemptions once it joins IAG?

You mean higher surcharges, right? There are already surcharges on EI's TATL routes.

I think we can fairly safely assume yes.
