BKK must have massive overcapacity currently, you can book on a huge number of airlines LHR-BKK at the moment for a price in the 1,250-1,750 range, including SQ on certain dates (which I've never seen before).

If you're actually looking to go to BKK on OW and based in London then AY is available for 1,300 too.

Ex AMS to JFK

Thanks to all who have mentioned the AMS fares. 1210 each to JFK in early July. I can get another 140 euros off by spending 16,000 Avios. Considering I get close to 12,000 back for the flights is this a good use of Avios?

Thanks again

I value Avios at over 1p a piece, so not a good investment in my view to use the 16000.

I wish there were some sales from Canada (Calgary) or even the west coast of the US, Looks like I might have to pay over 4000$ at this rate (and thats with over 2 stops). Need to get to the UK (or anywhere in Europe) within in the next 14 or so days.

The miliary coup and then the King's death have not been kind on Thai tourism. Leisure bookings are way down on last year which was significantly down on the year before. I presume business has also been affected as well, though I didn't think the economy or inward investment had taken such a hit.

I seem to find a new fare every day, but my current thought is CDG-AMM-BKK-AMM-CDG on mainly RJ with a touch of MH for what I think is 560 tier points.

with a bit more advanced planning you could have easily gotten a Canada-Europe J deal for <2000 USD, they happen like twice a year. All major airlines including BA.

There is availability on BA in J non-stop through AA for 62,500 miles and award flights can be one way if your plans are uncertain. If you have to buy miles it is a bit pricey and you can't buy that many but last minute flights can be a good use of miles if you have them.

Yeah thinking that its best option. I have some Aeroplan miles as well (which also has a lot of availability on the way back).

Having just looked it up I see that you can now buy up to 150,000 miles in one year - for about USD3,500. They just had a sale which gave you a huge bonus but too late for that. You should check the surcharges on awards, BA is expensive so Aeroplan may be a better bet.

Credit to NomadNick. I know its not J/F but great PE fare from Zurich. Move if not appropriate here.

Currently debating if I should go pre-march for the 60K avios or wait until november so I can UUA both ways. I suspect the fare wont be around long... If you know what I mean.

Could be a good opportunity for the next installment of 'CWS travels WTP'

Surely the answer is both?
