I have the same menu to LA slightly earlier in the month. The venison starter sounds good but I have found BA does very well with mushroom dishes so will probably go with that. Turbot and duck both look good with slight preference for the fish. Overall a good menu.

Well, a couple of days later and you end up with CHRISTMAS LUNCH being an option... Weep.

Any comments on this from those in the know?!

Traditional Christmas meal or Duck. Not a great difference. Certainly not enough to make me weep.

Duck with orange and chicory versus turkey with pigs in blankets and gravy is like comparing red and green. They're not the same... unless you're colour blind.

My tears are now double hard, I'm drowning.

Still not working for me, and my travel companion also has been unable to order. Seems like an IT issue, so may have to call You First or try my luck on Wednesday!

How come everyone else gets rosemary jus and I get juniper berry jus with their turkey? hahaha!! Talk about First world problems. I'm thinking the monkfish but I hear fish on a plane is never a great idea. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Did not pre-order meal. Lobster Thermador was a menu option. I was sitting in 1K. FA started taking orders at 1A, including both middle seats. F was about 60 percent full, including both middle seats in 3 rows .By the time she got to me, she was out of Lobster Thermador: "we only had 4 and they are all gone," she said. I ordered the beef filet. It was terrible. Small, thin portion with the texture and taste of leather (filet's should be think and juicy). I also think the current wine are very poor, besides the LPGS. The only premium wine is the Bordeaux and it's not particularly distinctive . Young male FA also had an "attitude", although he accommodated every request. For example, after a big stink when I was disappointed with the tea sandwiches, he was challenged and put off by my request for a cheese plate, although he was ultimately able to get me a cheese plate w two of the three cheeses "from the pilot's cart".

Overall, one of the worst BA F flights I've had in a while, although the smoked salmon was nice.

That’s the menu that I have coming up next week - I am a bit disappointed there is no soup for starters (and that my 747 is now a 777) - I have no idea about which main I will choose.

Has anyone tried the Granny Smith and Beetroot Soup? It's an option on my BA297 to ORD late in the month.

It sounds unique.

To be honest I’m not impressed by the starters at all. I detest aubergine and the thoughts of cold roasted sweet potato doesn’t fill me with delight either

Sounds delicious - the Granny Smith will add sharpness and will cut through the sweet earthiness of the beetroot... the colour should be super too
Sealink and orbitmic like this.
