Just noticed on my menu above that there isn't any vegetarian main course, doesn't particularly effect me but one of us occasionally would go for a veggie option. I know you can order a special meal but it just seems a little unusual compared to the other ones posted.

In general I think I would prefer the majority of the LHR menus ,especially for the starters, over LGW.

Are posters typing these menus by hand or scanning and converting to text? Surely the latter.

We had the EXACT same menu on our LHR-JFK flight back in August. The lamb was devine and, according to Mrs. B, the Dover sole was too.

Coastal Cheddar West Country Brie Shropshire blue served with walnuts biscuit and apricot chutney"

---

As much as I hope that the beef will be as good as it sounds, I think I'll take the trout for main. Unless anyone else has feedback. Figuring Salmon or butternut soup as starter.

Looking for comments from the travelers who have tried any of the above to give me a hint on the safest bets.

Starter

Spicy chickpea and lentil salad

Main

Kosu pattani poricha kootu, thengai sadam and vendakkai puli kuzhambu (Mix of cabbage, peas and lentils seasoned with curry leaves and mustard, coconut rice and okra in tamarind and tomato gravy)

OR

Pressed shoulder of British lamb with dauphinoise potato, roast peppers and patty pans with red wine sauce

Dessert

Chocolate pot

The last time I had the lamb, it was far too dry and gamey for my liking. I know CIHY liked this dish, and I had hoped that my particular experience was one-off - even though the WTP sides sound more appealing, maybe I'll just ask for the WT chicken option if thats a possibility.
Two years later...... this pressed shoulder of lamb is still around and really needs to go - I've had it on almost every WTP flight to MAA since 2015 (I think there was one exception)

LHR-MAA - NOV 2018 - WTP

Starter
  • Spiced bulgur wheat and cauliflower
Main
  • Ulli Theeyal with Bean Poriyal, pea pilau and Tadka Dal(Shallots cooked in tamarind, chilli and coconut with green beans sautéed in spices, pea rice and yellow lentils)
  • Pressed shoulder of British lamb with potato dauphinoise broccoli and Chasseur sauce
Dessert
  • Malted chocolate pot

This is the same menu as BA275 LHR-LAS J mid November. I'm in exactly the same quandary about beef vs trout, I've heard the horror stories about the beef but I'm inclined to give it a go as I'm not convinced about the trout. As far as I can see, I can't see that trout has been on the J menu before but I could well be incorrect. Anyone tried it?

p.s. Hello everyone - first time post and long time reader of FT.

BGI First, 1 December

I’m flying F to BGI on the 1st December, message online says that due to a technical error there is no pre-ordering available (apart from Special Meals) and it will be order onboard only.

Is this likely to change as it’s only just within the 30 day pre-order period?

Thanks, Bobbie
