Yes I can't say I'm too fond of them myself when it comes to items that have to be spooned. There's always some idiot who uses the baked beans spoon for the scrambled egg. Perfectly okay for items that don't though.

When I was in the FCT at FRA there was a help yourself breakfast buffet so even 'the best' use them.

I once went for a meal with a group of Environment Health Officers who were responsible for enforcing food safety regulations.

It was quite noticeable that none of them touched the items on the buffet.

I asked one why. I got a true horror story of things that they had found on buffets in the past.

Suffice to say Land-of -Miles's comment that "the hygiene of the whole buffet is only as good as that of the most disgusting user" is putting it mildly.

T5 GF two weeks ago on a Friday afternoon - no menus to be found, asked a staff member who produce one from where it was hiding in a cupboard

T3 GF now (Saturday morning) - menus to be found on pretty much every table, and also above the buffet areas

Here now in the T5 lounge and yesterday and today had to ask for the menu, may ask the lounge manager on why they keep deciding to hide the menus! I would be very disappointed not to have made to order menu.

Had to ask for a menu on Friday, one was eventually presented...

Controversially, the salmon sandwich and Mac and cheese was actually pretty good!

Brockman's and Sipsmith with cases of Fever Tree.

Certainly made a massive profit from my £35 Reward Saver yesterday!!

+1.

Unfortunately, there is no shortage of "most disgusting users".

Another day - another lack of menus here. It was like this when I traveled through in July.

Haven't seen that many menu dishes coming out in the last hour though (except mine and one other gent). The Red Thai Curry was good though!

If anyone's around - I'm down behind the champagne bar near the terrace.

Edit: On the plus side - the staff seem to be doing a great job of keeping the place clean today - constant patrols removing dirty glasses/plates/napkins.

The GF order menu may soon be gone forever

Are you noting the lack of menus in the iPad feedback points in the GF?

To be fair I would agree with the poster above - they are doing an excellent job of topping up and clearing away. Unfortunately even when you ask for a menu you are ignored. I had to stand in front of the kitchen door for 10 minutes until someone took an interest. But to be fair in that time they had cleaned my table which is an improvement.

If they hide the menus, fewer customers will order from them. Lack of demand will provide the necessary justification to remove the service.

Customers can continue to enjoy the buffet, where there will be an enhanced selection of food.

Hi,

No menus whatsoever in T5GF just now ( had the buffet which was fine).

I did see waiters carrying 3 BA burgers past me

Still going on then...

In one of my favourite restaurants I know I can order a smaller portion of a dish I love, it goes through as 0.7x the price. They don't advertise it and very few people know. Does it take a genius to work out why?

No menus in LHR GF this morning, either.
Time to look for one of those iPads.

Also use the text message surveys if you get one.
