Although I've seen the (smaller) scrum quite a few times now for AMS-LCY, yesterday there was a member of staff checking BPs on entry to the priority boarding lane, specifically looking for the Club/Gold etc notes before allowing people through at the appropriate time.
I wish this was enforced as well at LHR - I've not yet seen it happen!

LCY - AGP - no boarding announcement, but they did open the barrier to the small CE/OWE pen first. I was about the third person to the gate and they were asking if they could check in wheelie cases as it was a full flight - I politely declined, and was surprised to see them letting people through later with their cases and two or even three additional bags, particularly as they had been doling out the yellow tags.. AGP - LCY, they made a muffled announcement of CE/Gold/Silver/Bronze and families all in one go, so it was a bit of a scrum at the gate. There was some attempt to police this as she told the lady in front of me that they weren't boarding economy yet, but she pointed out that she was silver.

Best enforcement I've seen for a long time at A11 tonight on the 824 to Dublin. I popped over to compliment the lady and she said that it doesn't do much good, but she has to try. She was very grateful for the comment. If everyone put the effort in that she did, there would be no issue. It would be as smooth as AA's boarding process.

Two different experiences in the last 7 days.
Last week I did LHR-CPH-LHR and at both ends priority boarding was for CE, Gold, Silver. Bronze, Oneworlds, etc, all at once.
Yesterday I did the same flights again, and at both ends it was announced they would start boarding with CE and Gold only. At LHR a lady then went down the line checking BPs before it started, moving people out of the queue if they didn't qualify. Much better.

LHR-DUB: No boarding announcement, everyone was confused whether the boarding process has started. All passengers got into the priority queue (doubt all of them were Bronze+). Very unorganised.

It was rather amusing on a domestic last week. The agent pointedly instructed us all to remain seated and pay close attention to the specific sequence by which the aircraft would be boarded. I was all ears. She then announced Business UK and Gold/Emerald - a momentary intake of breath - then Silver/Sapphire, Bronze/Ruby, kids, dodderers, and everyone from Row 15 and behind.

First time ever I've seen it enforced when travelling back from Dublin last week with boarding cards checked prior to being scanned. Two subsequent flights both managed well. Lhr-Ams on Saturday and the return on Sunday afternoon. Guess that won't happen again for a while but goes to show if done properly it does work

I've flown from AMS a couple of times in recent weeks and on both occasions and this is the exact same process I witnessed. CE and Gold were called first with a member of the ground crew checking eligibility in the line before they had chance to get to the BP scan. Two passengers were politely told to join the queue behind on the first trip and 6 on the second trip! They were a mixture or Silver/Sapphire and Bronze/Ruby and both sets remonstrated when they were advised their group had not been called.
I wish this was enforced as well at LHR - I've not yet seen it happen!
