The boarding at T5 on my MAN flight a couple of days ago was astonishingly well policed. The usual huge priority queue was present but after pre-boarding (replete with a family of 12 Somalians who would appear never to have travelled by plane before) completed, it was BUK and Gold only and boarding passes were inspected to proceed. That cut out a lot of the queue for me (although I did here a few people whinging about having flown in F etc. etc as I passed them).

My earlier flight from DUB had similar announcements but less proactive policing of the queue.

BA2759 AMS-LGW today.

New boarding order announced and strictly enforced: a couple of Silvers were a bit grumpy about being asked to stand to one side to let us through

Unfortunately, then sat on board G-EUOB in a muck sweat having been seat-shifted to row 13 at OLCI. Unlucky for me as this row has no oveehead air vent

Oh well at least I have plenty of time at Gatwick to cool down as my connection is currently showing a 90-minute delay...

Win some, lose some

Today's BA1334 LHR to NCL. Absolute free for all. Boarding gold silver bronze and others via both queues. Announcements made but not adhered to and the fast track queue went from gate 22 down towards the pub. Absolutely ridiculous. Someone needs educating and this either needs implementing strictly or scraped completely because at the minute it's just not being enforced.

On Yesterdays BA1396 (LHR-MAN), a bronze was turned away at the desk, and told it was only OWE/OWS and Business UK, he didnt look too happy about it..

So it must be down to which GA's you get..

DUB - LHR flight was well enforced and the GA asking only BA Gold, OWE or CE to board initially first then Silver.

LGW to GLA yesterday evening. Unusually for a domestic out if LGW, we didn't board in the 55 area. There was a boarding announcement - boarding by seat row number (with status card holders only mentioned a few seconds later as an afterthought). But no effort to police it, so boarding was a total free for all. Took almost 25 minutes to eventually load a full 319.

LHR-EDI had both the boarding process and new hand luggage rules enforced. A couple of silvers were turned away when only golds had been called, and then I also saw non status pax who came down fast track lane being turned away during the bronze-back rows group, as they boarded bronzes using the fast track first.

There was no call for FIRST or Club World -boarding started with golds & business UK - that seemed to upset a couple of people on premium connections who didn't have business UK tickets.

They would never invite cabins to board that weren't present on the aircraft*

*Except the GVA flight I heard yesterday being announced with World Traveller Plus

I had a quick chat with the gate agent who said that the new rules were a huge help and boarding was now much better at DUB (ten out of ten for her, she really knows what she is doing and carries out her role in an exemplary manner). Boarding was duly completed very quickly using this method and the captain came on the PA to thank everyone for boarding so promptly. It really is the gate agent who needs thanks.
What a good start to my first ex-DUB!
Aren't bronzes supposed to board after silvers?

Just curious, not a big deal, but I had a flight from gate A10 at LHR T5. Is this normal not to have priority boarding for gates with buses?

Edit: sorry if this has been answered before ;-) I just had a strange feeling of deja vu asking this question...

LGW - BCN yesterday: Club Europe, Gold ( and OWE) and Silver ( and OWE) all called together. Some people had no yellow tags, some had one and some had two. Fortunately all the hand luggage fitted.

There is a long thread about bus boarding - it's hard to know what good fast track to the bus would do as you will stuffed down one end and last off!
