EDI-LHR on 767 upgraded at the gate. Would have been more useful if it was on my connection to PRG.

Flight 193 LHR to DFW yesterday, WT+ to Club, as you would expect I was very happy.

BA271 LHR-LAS X 2 upgrade CW to First for a Blue first time traveller and a Silver. 7th September.
Alas, the service in the cabin was pretty mediocre.

BA287 LHR-SFO on Sep 6th WT+ to CW
BA286 SFO-LHR on Sep 18th WT+ to CW
Both upgrades at the gate before boarding. On both sectors the WT+ cabins were full with a handful of OpUps into CW.
I was a Silver, travelling alone, with no pre-booked meal.

I know beggars can't be choosers and all that, but went from 30K exit row in WT to 19E which was a middle seat in WTP. Not my ideal choice, but an upgrade is an upgrade
I was on the same flight - and was one of the lucky folk moved from WTP to CW to make space for you :-)
The OpUp was done an hour or so before boarding.

Hang on a sec - do you mean you were seated in ET and invited to move after boarding? I didn’t think this was a thing.

Officially, it isn't. It has happened to me, once, and I've heard sporadic reports.
Personally I wasn't keen to downgrade out of exit row class, so stayed where I was - and had a flat bed with all three seats of an A319 to myself.

On the same day BA275 LHR-LAS x 4 upgrade WT+ to CW (2 Silver + 2 Blue).
I had been refusing to pay the £700 each to upgrade that sector. On the day there was a very last minute equipment change Mid J to Super High J and between bag drop and the lounge we got moved.
It turned out to be a very lucky holiday because our flights from LAS-MIA-NAS didn't get cancelled or changed and we got through MIA just after Irma when they were only flying about a third of the schedule. Then the O&O Ocean Club gave us an upgrade as they were well below 20% occupancy (and totally unscathed).

Are upgrades on redemptions a thing of the past?
In the past I reckoned on about 50% of my redemptions would be upgraded: 14 redemptions in the last 2 months, nothing... .

Is one more likely to get an OPUP if they are not checked-in versus checked-in? Thanks
