For what it's worth, what I can say is that I have gotten an email for one of the Gold accounts that I manage, and the agent was quite clear that booked date only matters for BA flights, and that partners are based on flown date only.

Interesting. What about BA operated flights but with a OW partner booking code?

It's curios why BA partners would not honour changes made by BA to its members.

Does BA book award tickets for BA-operated flights using a non-BA marketing flight code? That would be news to me, if so.

It's BA's doing.

Yet another complaint (rant) on the April 28th devaluation...
Booked a January flight via Internet while in Mexico on 27th April..
Was not able to request my customary 10K trans Atlantic upgrade from WT+ > CW....
despite two email communications with BA that led nowhere " please call BA, we cannot help you"....despite my inability to call by phone from where I was at....
Upon return, I called to upgrade and was 'debited' 48K for RT WT+ > CW !!! ORD > LHR..
Who do I contact to argue my case ???

Why were you unable to book/request your customary upgrade on 27 April?

When did you receive this email? I received precisely the contrary information whenever I asked BA prior to April 28th.

We are talking of revenue flights.

Can I ask who you were emailing? Only GGLs have access to an email with BA, everyone else uses the webform, MMB, or calls. When you do a UuA I have never heard of anyone doing it by email. What you usually do is check CW reward availability for your flight (do a dummy booking on ba.com) and if there is availability you then do it through MMB if you can or call. Did you have access to skype or were you not able to call?

It sounds like you booked on the last day and couldn't call, and unfortunately that is tough luck. Using the webform would have not got you anywhere since UuAs can't be done that way. The problem is that you didn't leave yourself much time or ability to call before the deadline - BA would say that wasn't their fault so why should they allow you to use the old avios rates.

I am not sure what you mean by customary UuA? UuAs are subject to CW reward availability being available. If it is you can UuA from WTP to CW, and if not you can't. You may have been quite lucky doing this but there are not many (possible not any) routes were it can be thought of as almost guaranteed.

I understand that UuAs done from 28 April onwards whether on a pre or post 28 April booking are priced at the new avios rates. This is shown on the faqs section on ba.com https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb...b-changes/faqs

If I have a cash booking made before 28 April and now wish to upgrade using Avios will the new rates apply?

Yes. The new rates apply to any new Avios upgrade made from 28 April.
I am sure you don't want to hear this but I am afraid that you have to pay the new rates. I doubt you will have any success arguing a case,

I could not have been more explicit. Even quoted the exact PNR and they replied quoting the exact points I should be getting (140) and confirmed the MMB figures were incorrect. I will NOT be happy if this was an error as it makes or breaks my status for the next year.

Question for the BAEC reps here: I'm sitting on a boatload of Avios which I accumulated (in good faith!) by converting from RBC Avion points. Now that they are effectively worthless, is there any way to convert them back?

Thanks for all responses...
I barely had wifi service let alone telephone where I was at in Mexico..
since arrival on April 18th.
My previous experience using Avios was DXB > LHR @ 10K per segment, LHR > YYZ as well.
I do realize that certain times are higher than others...but Twuce as much ??....my E mails were addressed to BA Cust Service who seemed not to understand ...

The BAEC reps won't respond to questions in threads. The answer is no, you can't convert your Avios back, though.

From what you say I cannot see how BA can be responsible for you not booking the upgrade prior to 28 April. You were able to book flights on 27 April so presumably you'd have been able to book the upgrade at the same time?

Only just noticed the difference between Y and F SH redemptions on AA and US. There's no Y availability on the day I need BNA-DCA but there is F. Y would be 4,500 but F is 18,000. Four times Economy? That seems ludicrous to me!

Perhaps in the UK only? Anyone can e-mail their local offices. BA even used to publish e-mail address online.
