Hassle, what hassle? Personally I'm extremely happy with NatWest Black - as well as the priority pass cards, there's global travel insurance for the family. The other insurance and home emergency cover features have also proved immensely valuable with prompt response when called.

Am I missing something about Nat West Black account?

you have to have an income over 100k AND pay then 24 pounds every month?

True on both counts.

But the benefits list is pretty comprehensive for the Ł24: global travel insurance, priority pass cards, car breakdown cover, mobile phone insurance, emergency home assistance, concierge service, private banking helpline. It's not hard to get value for money.

And for BA?
Even if I have status, I may very well choose to fly another airline when my employer/client is not paying for my flights, and I have done so before.
(admittedly, this would not apply from T5 as this terminal is a BA only terminal...)

Concierge/private banking line I already get without paying Ł24, as well as travel insurance provided by my employer.
My condo has security already as well.
(relationship balance for the former 2 is not an opportunity cost as I can use investments to meet it.)
As for mobile phone, I have never lost mine.
(the family thing may be a benefit to you, though I have no family other than my parents and possibly my GF, though the latter legally is not family.)

Sounds like it's not for you then.

Agreed. I use the RBS (Natwest with a kilt) Black account travel insurance, which includes a clause that will cover the price of lost avios if you have to cancel an award which BA won't refund. With cover for the whole family, the mobile phone insurance, x2 PP cards, green flag etc. I find it to be frugal value at Ł24 a month!

HSBC offer a lot of these services to Premier customers entirely free of charge especially the insurance. The HSBC lounge benefits seem to have been scaled back though.

Good news. Hopefully a place where I can get a quick shower, in T5 (though my long haul to domestic connections have been awfully short, of late).

Does anyone have an EXACT opening date of this lounge, I am travelling out on 7th July and I was hoping to review it for my blog and share pictures here. Anyone have an exact date...?'

Nothing found on Google other than repeats of the press release. I would bet on it opening in the dying days of summer/early Autumn, rather than anytime soon.
