Lots of great tips here but get there early and try them all. Then you can advise others🍰🥗🍩🍵🍼.

Hope FT supports all those emoji!

Question:

We are arriving BA F from Seattle and connecting same day to Prague BA CE @ T3. We are traveling on Alaska Air awards tickets.

Will we be able to access CX F Lounge?

I ask because we did the same a couple years ago and we were only allowed access to the old J Lounge (before remodel). Agent did not allow us access to First Lounge even though we arrived on BA F. I'm assuming this was a one off and we should be allowed access... Any recent F access denial experiences?

now, all I need to do is decide if I want to use BA Arrivals Lounge or use flight connections and head straight to CX ft shower, etc....

Thanks all...DUT

Yes, oneworld rules clearly state you would have access to any of the three oneworld F lounges in T3 on the basis of your inbound F flight - keep the bp as you may need t show it.

Oneworld rules here https://www.oneworld.com/ffp/lounge-access

Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:
  • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).
  • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
  • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass or itinerary showing travel in First or Business class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight.

Happy to pay a reasonable amount for the food served in those places.
At LHR, no way jose.
Anywhere really, but from your list I've only been to the SYD QF F lounge, and TBH I wasn't sure what all the fuss was about, but I had just finished a satisfying lunch in Woolloomooloo before my flight so I wasn't that hungry.

I used to think that the problem was due to kitchen limitations (no naked flames for example) but with today's induction methods there's little excuse not to be able to make a half decent effort on the ground.

If travelling alone from T5, I'm more likely to be found in Plane Food than the CCR, not that Plane Food is particularly good of course, you have to be careful what you order, even some of theirs is just reheated in an effort to get plates to the punters ASAP. That's one of the problems, punters in departures want their food, whether starter or main, in a few minutes.

I won't deny that as a one time food writer, I may have different expectations to others!

Looking forward to trying again!!

Does the CX J lounge serve any other food apart from Dim Sum? Will be there at lunchtime next week then in the evening a couple of weeks later.

What's the food offering like in the AAdmirals lounge too?

Will folk please do the decent thing and henceforth refrain from using the CX lounge - let alone saying nice things about it.

I have no ulterior motive in making this appeal, and the fact that I have serious concerns about potential overcrowding is irrelevant.

The BA lounge is far, far, better in every respect (as you would expect, with LHR being its home base of course).

it truly is amazing how few people use the CX F lounge before the mid-afternoon bank of TATL flights from T3.

Yes CX J has a hot buffet - not loads of options but tasty and high-quality.
I wouldn't bother with AAdmirals - same crap snacks you'd find in the States. The AA F lounge is ok but vastly inferior to CX F.

Except for wifi as noted in post 31. Some of us need a fast connection to download a few gigabytes of porn before heading off on holiday

Ok currently sitting in CX F lounge in T3, having started in BA F lounge.

BA lounge had Kosher food available so that was a plus for us. Sat down and ate a hot meal on China plates. For those used to KSML anywhere, this is isnt to be taken for granted!

The BA GF was nice and calm and quiet - not always the case in T5 lounges which I am more used to. As noted by many, a great drinks selection. I'm a whisky lover and there was JW Blue, a good Glenlivet and Gentleman Jack. However, the chairs and decor were definitely tired and some areas were a bit grubby.

CX F lounge - definitely cleaner, calmer and more serene. Nice piped music. Drinks selection clearly more limited but I'm currently sipping a CX Betsy beer which is quite pleasant!

As I have said I can't compare the dining options but both have been a nice way to while away a couple of hours, away from the nasty hustle of the main T3 terminal
