Upgrade info from J to F flying to LAX
Just about to book at a long weekend in vegas. Flying out on 10th April but to LAX as ideally I want to upgrade an have my first first experience. I'd also like to fly the A380 for the first time.
Actually booking from AMS for around £1700 (happy to learn of better opportunities. Flying home to lgw on the Monday.
AMS is great for us as living in Brighton we can start our positioning from LgW.
Anyhow. Getting us in first.
Have a shed load of avios but have never seen F reward availability on this route. Let alone two tickets.
I also have a small stash (about 40k) of on business miles. Could these help?
Failing this. Might I get lucky and be offered a cash upgrade prior to check in or even at check in? If so, what might I expect to pay?
Thanks for any answers

I have only once ever got F on Avios (two in fact last Nov on BA282) but never on another occasion through Avios or Airport Upgrade. Have you considered direct to LAS on LHR in Old F sold as J? Lots of recent reports of it being NF

How much would I miss the CCR and the first service?

I am sure you will be able to get guested into CCR - for instance I was offering two guests on 2nd April, it does come up. On board - there is quite a difference service wise, but you'll already have the seat (hopefully!) I'd go hard on the champagne early and then sleep for 3/4 hours, arriving in LAS good to go! You been before?

Our casino of choice has always been the mirage and they are keen to shout my accommodation for 3 days. Wouldn't class ourselves as big gamblers
