End? I have a T3 flight on 29 October. When originally booked I thought would be safe considering the lounge was supposed to re-open in June originally.

You'll find updates on the CX lounge progress here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...er-2016-a.html

The man at the desk greeted me by name from my BP and unprompted told me my gate and about a delay. The area by the buffet was very busy when I arrived, but once I'd plugged things into charge and got a drink I wandered up for sandwiches and cake and it was virtually empty!

Galleries First...maybe I should have gone to J side if it's so good:)

Hello all,

Flying AA J LHR-DFW 15:15 (presumably out of T3). Which lounges would I have access to and which one would be my best bet?

Edit: I have priority pass membership so I have access to Aspire and No1 lounges as well.

This question comes up very frequently in this forum, which truly is not a problem, but the downside is that useful material gets scattered over very many threads. Here is one very recent thread with links, photos / menus:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...e-options.html

And the Cathay forum also has a detailed recent thread of the London lounge.

Sitting in newly refurbed CX lounge. F side is quiet, nice little restaurant and fantastic plane spotting. J side is huge, more food/drink and also great tarmac view. I've got 3 more hours, so time to bounce

navylad Jun 3, 17 5:05 am

Yes the CX F is a nice little spot, although I wasn't impressed with the breakfast yesterday (runny poached eggs, non-crispy sausage, tea poured for me before it had a change to brew). Totally admit these are first world problems and mainly personal preferences however, not going to get too annoyed by them!

TravellerFrequently Jun 3, 17 6:10 am

I thought my lunch in the CX F lounge in April was very good.

Not perfect (over salted asparagus, main course arrived while I was still enjoying the asparagus, starter plate not removed while I was enjoying the main course, slow top up of drinks- although the dining area was only 25% full, etc) but still a very pleasant experience and high quality food.

A higher class of experience than the BA GF lounge, although I enjoy the GF food and the better wine/champagne.

Dambus Jun 3, 17 6:30 am

Another vote for the CX lounge.

Although there is something strangely (pathologically?) rewarding about lounge hoping and comparing and contrasting lounge offerings in T3 like an amateur travel journalist. If feels a bit like work which helps assuage the niggling sense that you might be wasting your life.....

Indeed, I might write an article comparing and contrasting teh sausages in the T3 lounge breakfasts on my next T3 trip.

I personally like BA T3 GF for dinning (I prefer the food and the view as you eat) and then switch to CX for a relaxing drink with a view in a very comfortable chair.

OWS flying J so relegated to business class lounges during early morning hours 0530-0915. Checked out all three lounges. I don't drink so no opinion or review of alcohol.

Breakfast
CX scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms, etc.
AA scrambled eggs, sausage, beans, mushrooms, etc.
BA egg rolls, bacon rolls

All had pastry, bread, yogurt, fruit, cereal, juice, etc.

Best coffee CX and BA IMO.

CX J lounge was empty and very quiet.
BA lounge the busiest.

CX and AA lounges very new, whereas BA lounge looks tired.

BA lounge is always very warm, whereas CX and AA are comfortably cool.

All lounges had both sparkling and still water.

CX wins hands down on aesthetics and comfort IMO.

My personal opinion for J lounge in the morning from best to worst; CX, AA, and then BA

CX J lounge doesn't open until 0730. AA and BA open at 0500-0530

One extra useful bit of info. The CX J lounge serves full english breakfast until 12 noon, which is definitely appreciated!

I've mentioned this a number of times before, but people on the BA board have a weird love for those tiny little bacon roll things which I'd use for sport rather than eating...

Those hard rolls BA have are terrible. It's hard to find a worse bacon sandwich anywhere in the UK.

That's what baffles me. I quite like a bacon roll, nice bit of bread, nice bacon, can be lovely.

However, those bullets with a slice of bacon in them, I'm sure I nearly lost a tooth the first time I bit into one...

II will admit, I grab 4/5 and then toast with butter, remove the bacon and make my own.

Any news on the Qantas lounge? That's well overdue. September? October?

November (not sure it's overdue, mind). It currently looks like Cathay at least 3 months before opening, but there were special factors there.

I'm only half joking when I say they probably reuse them and this is the reason why they are so hard :D

I have a flight out of T3 on November 3rd, which is probably going to be too early if it doesn't open right on November 1st!

Between the BA and Cathay lounges.

I tried to sneak a peak through the plywood lift-up hatch yesterday morning, but some spoilsport has put white plastic over the window.

I don't think this is correct - I'm there fairly regularly at 0630 and its open. perhaps that is weekends.

Yes, it is just Sunday when the CX lounge opens at 0730. I think every other day it opens around 0500-0530.

Back in February, over on the Qantas forum, Genius1 had posted a link which stated March 2017 as the proposed original opening date. That article, from the Australian Business Traveller, was subsequently updated in June and now includes this quote:

A source associated with the lounge's construction tells Australian Business Traveller that the project team is now targeting "late September, definitely October" as the opening date.
Not to worry. It is what it is.

Interesting, I was in the CX business lounge at the end of august, and thought it was great. The noodle and dim sum bar in particular, and moet on demand at the bar.

I'm back there at the end of November in F so hope the Qantas lounge is open to compare. I don't recall ever going to a Qantas lounge so don't really know what to expect. I'm a bit lazy so cant imagine myself going to 4 lounges to check them out, I think 2 is my max!

Gagravarr Sep 13, 17 4:42 am

If you're flying in F, then you'd have 8 lounges to check out - all the business and all the first ones!

Just get to T3 in the morning for an evening flight, and move once an hour... :)

goofygoofygooberyeah Sep 13, 17 4:48 am

What time does the noodle bar open at the CX lounge?

pablol Sep 13, 17 5:02 am

I'm flying to Vegas tomorrow for the big fight so will do a Lounge trawl. Haven't done that for years as normally flying either on business or with kids.

Heathrow Club World Lounge Access

It will be our first time flying Club World from Heathrow T3 to Miami in November. We have a U class ticket (we upgraded from WTP using POUG). I am a bit confused about what lounges we can access. Is it just the BA Club lounge or can I get access to other One World lounges at Terminal 3 & Miami?

Flying in Club World, you can access all OW business class lounges at T3.

Currently, most people here would recommend the Cathay Pacific Business Class lounge as the best of the lot.

Thanks for this information. From what I have been reading online the Cathay lounge puts the BA offering to shame?
