I've been watching WTP JFK fares which were around £850 until yesterday, now they are up over £1000...
I thought the same thing, they have gone up in anticipation of a sale.
Perhaps they will wait until next weekend to start the sale with bank holiday.

In the February sale there was £1299 for 3 nights accomodation in 4 * hotel and Club flights to NYC but it was over Christmas 17. They did something similar in the Black Friday sale for xmas 16 too.

There doesn't seem to have been an increased awards inventory "sale" this year either? IIRC, there was for the last two years where they released a large amount of award inventory for a period of time.

Coincide with VS sale dates?

Some fares recently lowered in response to VS Easter sale which ended Tuesday. SEA biz fare went up £700+ yesterday.

Who knows.

Possibly Thursday this week (they generally tend to start on Thursdays), but that's pure speculation.

Did you manage to actually book it at £1700? Can't seem to get it lower than £2200. Literally watched it jump in front of my eyes, saw it at £1700 and then it was gone by the time I'd refreshed the page!

Lucky I wasn't actually trying to book it

I'm not seeing any general reduction in fares in routes I'm looking at (UK to HKG, or EU to HKG).
