BA seat shifters
Booked BUD-LHR in CE about 10 months ago (only booked in CE to select row 1, otherwise would select ET exit row) only to find we are bumped to row 2 for tomorrow's flight.
"Operational reasons"
I'm Gold and the OH is Silver. Is this normal?

I was given that bs excuse once when getting moved out of 62K for an obvious BA staffer. I told them I wasn't aware that there were different UD configurations

This seems unusual but I wouldn't be jumping to conclusions why you were moved, it wouldn't be done just to upset you.
Please let us know the reason once you have the facts.

We have been bumped because a member of crew has requested a specific seat. I have been reminded of the terms and conditions regarding seating, so that has properly put me in my place.
Wonderful. If I treated my customers like this I would be out of business, or more likely be fired and sued (not necessarily in that order).
I am, in this case, a DYKHUIA (Don't you know how unimportant I am). I shall be considered lucky not to be in the cargo hold.

I have the facts from customer service.

There still might be good reasons why a member of crew might need that seat. A pilot might conceivably have a physical restriction such as pins in his legs which means he needs the extra space for comfort. We may never know the answer though.
Row Two isn't so bad.

Completely understand your frustration here. Despite the terms, that really is not an acceptable 'operational' reasons for a seat change. I can't think of many acceptable reason on a short haul flight why a crew member would 'need' 1C. Bearing in mind that it's now the only seat in CE with any real benefit over economy, I'd suggest having a rather stern word with Customer Relations when you get back.

I would urge a sense of proportion, at least for the time being. It's not something that happens very often, and there may be more to this story. The one time I was moved in the last couple of years (so we're talking a somewhat low percentage of flights here) was for the partner/spouse of a staff member. And his guide dog. Now SS did call on me proactively to let me know - of course it wasn't a problem - and in the end I did sit in my original seat, so it was better handled in my case. But I really wouldn't let something like this get to you, at least at this stage.

I'm not criticising you but I don't think the facts as given by Customer Service is correct.
It certainly wouldn't be for a off duty crewmember, I can think of a couple of operational reason why a crewmember would have to sit in row 1 but would prefer to find out from the crew themselves, please let us no the reason.

Moderator note
SukiB has shared a issue that raises its head in the forum repeatedly throughout the year. I was about to fold this discussion into the existing http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...-shifters.html thread, but as that thread (originally posted 10 year ago) has grown rather long in the tooth, we'll use SukiB's experience today to restart the topic fresh.
Note, posts comparing the merits of CE versus ET have been removed so we can focus on the topic in hand.
