Yeah, got that as well. Why can't Avios be used on some flights?

I checked LHR/LGW as well and not much difference to be honest. About £60 the first one I checked so no point. Nice?

I mean as part-payment. Is that capacity controlled as well? I just see that option sometimes.

There will be a London Pre-Christmas Drinks Do in December which will be announced next week. Same format as last year's, so it will be just a time, date, and bar listed and folks can just turn up - nothing as organised as the recent London Do.

Any thoughts for 2016? Seems there might be a few possible venues for the first half of next year such as Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow, Inverness (after May when the route starts), and Isle of Man. Also perhaps a non-UK Do such as Dublin etc. based on the recent success of Milan and Paris. Anyone local in any place willing to organise something?

I've organised 3 Edinburgh Do's before and given the success of this years Edinburgh Do with a healthy number of folks attending I promised I'd organise another Edinburgh Do for around early May next year as a fair few asked for it to become an annual event.

I'll stick it in the Wiki just now so a wee heads up re that one. If not May then September but that's a long way off just now.

There will also be a pre-Christmas Edinburgh drinks meet up for locals or anyone else around here at that time.

I've been thinking for a while if there are FT/BA Do's all around the UK/elsewhere on the same date then a Facetime Link Up could be good? @:-)

We could all then say hello to each other but more than likely some cheeky banter (and more!) could be exchanged......'live'!

The one significant venue not to have had a Do recently is Belfast. There's not been a BA Do for Dublin either, though there were other events there, notably the BMI one close to their demise. LON, JER, LBA, EDI and NCL have had more than one, GLA and ABZ have had them quite recently, and MAN not so far back.

I'd happily forego organising the EDI one for a DUB or a Belfast one!

How about Cardiff as well as a potential venue?

I think folks like the JER one which now seems to be a regular annual event and I hope it stays that way.

It's been muted before quite a few times re a Dublin Do but no one has yet to come forward and organise it. Given how popular DUB is on here with flights I'd anticipate a good turnout.

The others such as GLA, MAN, NCL, EDI, LON, LBA etc are familiar, and there is also the train options, which I sense folks like and I'm up for any of them as well.

My home town of Belfast is a fun spot but not easy to organise something for a large group. There is good food and good night life. Outside of the Titanic centre (mediocre), Crumlin Road Goal (mediocre) or the falls taxi tour which is a lot of fun but expensive, group activities are low. What would people be interested in doing?

My personal view is that a Do should involve little more than arranging a pub with an area for a few dozen people to chat comfortably, and to be able to serve food on spec for those who want it. Keep it simple! Most landlords are quite happy to reserve off a corner for free, so long as they are given a bit of notice.

Sure, provide links to other things like you have mentioned, maybe even be prepared to chaperone one of them yourself perhaps, but avoid setting up complicated arrangements, bookings, deposits, food orders and what-not. FTers are quite diverse: some will perhaps indulge in fine dining while there and will leave early, others will happy to just drink (and drink and drink), others will turn up early, DYKWIA will turn up late, some will go out of town, some will visit friends. So it's easiest to say - go to venue x at 7 pm. x doesn't have to be a hospital incidentally! But maybe there are some unusual drinking holes in Belfast?

I don't think you'll get a vast crowd for Belfast - more like a healthy 20 or 30 souls?
