Afraid they're back. Ham hock is really poor as is the steak. Only tastes of pepper and has a very odd rubbery texture.
Big downgrade from scallops and I guess the duck and the staff agree with me when doing the taste test. Plus the scallops were considered "exceptional" as they were cooked fresh vs re-heat.
Treacle tart is back was it wasn't available (not defrosted perhaps) when I was there earlier today.
Hence best sticking with the sea bass.

I don't think it is. But it kind of shows how we have all moved on: there was a time when we needed a youngster who knew how to programme the VCR box. Now it's the old lags that end up having to reverse engineer any chopped up URLs.

I must be going barmy.
Not much on the menu seems to "hang together" coherently as real complementary plates. It seems intended to show off how clever they are to people who know little about food and what goes well with what.
For example, Lobster does not live well with a smoked sausage in the same casing (in fact lobster in any casing seems to misunderstand what lobster is and how it should be served) and certainly not with grapefruit - and none of the previous goes with chimmichurri ... (ps I do know that someone will say it is really lovely ...... )
Hoisin burgers?
The "showing off" bit is QED'd when menus use terms that most of their customers would have no idea what they are talking about without the use of google.
Anyway ... keep it really simple and do it extremely well. That is my suggestion.
