Just transitted through and it was a mad house. Lovely woman scanning boarding cards said "welcome to slow trak it's a mad house"

Just arrived from LAS - boy was I glad of fast track connections today! The normal queue was hundreds and hundreds of people long - and that was before our 747 disgorged a full pax load! Fast track was genuinely faster!

Answer's simple: don't use it. Truth is, BA and LHR simply don't care.

I use LCY, MAD and CDG instead.

Feel free to thank me for making your LHR queue shorter!

Right after using the preterite instead of the present perfect went big.
Sorry, but I just couldn't resist it. No offense intended obviously.

9 times out of 10 these days I exit via e - passport gates (UK/EU) and re - enter through South security...which almost invariably is faster especially since fast lane for UK/EU passport holders was removed from connections to UK domestic. You can take a quick look at connections before deciding to land and re-enter. South usually shows two little men on the board and North has five...seems to be an imbalance in the traffic but fine if you know the shortcut.

At North Security I don't know why they bother with the pretence of the separate Fast Track and Standards scanner lanes - because once you get beyond them the lines all merge into one anyway. So there is NO Fast Track at North Security at all.
