Amex 2-4-1 redemption - return leg CW > F?

I have an Amex 2-4-1 redemption booking to BOM for a wedding in early December.

Outbound we are flying F and inbound we are in CW (all that was available at the time).

Is it possible to book the return in F now that it is showing availability on our selected flight? Or, will doing this potentially mean cancelling the outbound leg and returning out F availability to general inventory with no guarantee of it returning?

This is the only thing that concerns me as there's no more F or CW availability on the outbound.

Finally - I assume my Amex voucher would be applied to the mileage rate to move up to F on the return?

Thanks in advance

Yes you can do this. It will be an extra 25k, i.e. you do benefit from the voucher again, making the simple cost 150k instead of 125k.

Make sure the agent is making a change rather than insisting on a cancel/rebook which is risky. It should be possible and I've done so, but it's possible an agent might not know how and go down the wrong route. They may also have reprice the taxes if there is a change, and charge you the change fee (Ł35pp?).

And be prepared for a shock. The last time I upgraded CW>F there was a tax surcharge of Ł0.93.

I have done this - we did need to call to do it though and pay the amendment fee via the call center rather than the lesser online fee. Worth it though IMO. No need to cancel the outbound.

Thanks all for the replies! Not too sure about this 93p tax surcharge each though.....might be the straw that breaks the camels back...

The tax is no difference, the exchange rate will have changed slightly and hence when it is re-calculated there will often be a minor difference.

Well it is 95p extra....I paid an additional 95p. Therefore regardless of external factors, the tax was more

What do you think BA would have done if the £ had strengthened??

Really? I'd call that extra gross margin.

Not at all, when I've changed itineraries (dates/times) I've often received a refund from just a few pence to quite a few pounds. In situations like this it's not all one-way traffic.
