Flares on board ?
Quite a few flares set off by Galatasary fans tonight in their defeat by Arsenal. Given that Turkey is quite a long way, I assume most fans would have flown......with flares in their luggage perhaps. Hopefully not one of ours but a Turkish charter anyway, but would these highly flammable things have been picked by security ? (Security has seemed pretty good there on my several departures from Turkey).

Distress flares are fairly easy to buy in the UK, I have some at my home due to its remote location. Marine chandlers are one source, they cost around £8 each. Given the large Turkish community that lives between Clapton and Manor House I suspect many of these flares may not have been on an aircraft recently.

Flares are often confused for sticks of dynamite (visually), and since they're composed of very flammable metals I'd be surprised if they weren't picked up by most luggage scanners. But I'm sure someone will prove me wrong.
