787 at NCL

Anyone with an idea why a BA 787 is parked up at Newcastle airport today?

Makes you wonder why they pick a busy airport like NCL for this sort of thing rather than quieter airports and airspace !

Yes, reported here as well. BA have been doing some 787 pilot training from NCL. The aircraft has also been appearing at LBA doing doing approaches and go-arounds.

787 at NCL

If they are training fire crew I guess they are not local otherwise it begs the question why unless BA has plans to start TATL with 787 from NCL.

Ok, no chance of that........,

The fire crews will likely be local. Perhaps some visiting from the Durham school but almost certainly local crew as well. Fire crews take every opportunity to visit and learn what is new/different from our and their perspectives in making any situation as survivable as possible. It is not uncommon to have crews visit from time to time, especially as new members join their watches, or new aircraft come in to visit. Remember TOM also have 787s and could use NCL at any given point, just as BA could if something were to go "goose over stumps, frog side!"

I get that, my question is "what's in it for BA?" It can't be cheap to have a 787 sat around for fire crew to play with and therefore training crews to support TOM I doubt is in BAs business plan. Training for a BA related 787 very rare potential would imply that they need to go to pretty well every airport in the world!

787 at NCL

The BA 787 did an approach and go around at MME (Durham tees valley) 2 weeks ago. Before starting any rumours, it was because LBA were busy. (I was in the air at the time, on the same frequency).
