Back to KL [BA to resume flights to Kuala Lumpur from May 2015]

British Airways is to resume direct flights from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur in summer 2015.

The daily service from Terminal 5 will be operated by a four-cabin Boeing 777-200ER, featuring 12 seats in First, 48 in Club World, 32 in World Traveller Plus and a further 127 in World Traveller.

Flights begin on May 27, 2015. British Airways last flew to the Malaysian capital in 2001.

Well there's a surprise! :p

Thanks for the confirmation ^

Perhaps they're thinking that some people aren't overly comfortable flying MH at present so may take advantage of the situation?

:)

Tag onto CGK please! (checks times, 45 mins in KUL, 16:45 departure, arrives CGK 17:45. Departs CGK 19:15 arrives KUL 22:20, leaves 23:05 - yep - that's fine :)).

Nail / Coffin / MH?

Also, if anyone at BA Marketing is looking, the number 111 is highly significant in Malaysia ;)

Times for you:

1234567 LHR KUL 2015# 1600 BA 33
1234567 KUL LHR 2305# 0525 BA 34

Fares not loaded yet.

Back to KL

Delighted with the news

Back to KL

Well I'm happy. As a Malaysian GGL (to be - I'm waiting on a flight to credit) this made my day :)

Definitely should consider CGK. Would work if left LHR a couple of hours earlier but even 1600 to 2305, just enough time!!

So - KUL, not KL

And there I was thinking that BA and KL were ditching their tempestuous southern partners and about to rekindle the romance that they abandoned 14 years ago

:(

Has MH announced if it is cancelling its evening A380? And closing its lounge and moving the remaining flight to T3?

Hi there,
That return flight is extremely interesting! That is a pre 6am arrival.
Those slots are like gold dust. Either BA is using one of MH's slots (not sure if they have a pre 6am one) or one of the following is moving:

HKG
JNB
SIN
Riyadh

I think that there is one other pre 6am......

FD.

New routes are always good news but you have to fear for the future of MH.

MH2 currently arrives from KUL at 05:50.

They are apparently hoping to retreat to being a regional carrier - SE Asia and Australia - with longhauls provided by an array of partners, both new and old.

It's widely expected they will axe Istanbul and Frankfurt - possibly also Paris - though it's harder to see them cutting London (well, maybe one of their 2 daily rotations - which would free that slot up for BA) and Amsterdam.

No, not yet. Going from 18 flights a week to 7 would be a terrible step for MH. I don't think they need to sell the slot yet.

I've been to an MH event recently, and nothing was revealed.

I love flying MH by the way, so i'm not overly happy with this!

themapelligroup Sep 17, 2014 3:45 am

Great news! I wonder if they took over one of MH's slots.
I hope this new route will lead to a deeper partnership with MH, both in the South East Asia for BA and Europe for MH: after the unlucky year they've passed I can't hope but for the best for them.
