Scottish Secession and BA?
Hi!
As I'm not a UK citizen, I am fairly uninformed about the history and present debate about Scottish secession. In reading some of the UK papers in the past week, this seems like a huge deal.
Just wondering, in the event of a "Yes" vote, will that have any impact on BA?

I suppose someone will want to develop a Scottish flag carrier brand if independence happens. Caledonian Airways flies again!

Seeing as an independent Scotland wouldn't be part of the U.K. or EU would they have to re-write all the air treaties with other countries?

I hope all the young fellows come out to vote and convince their female acquaintances, especially the old ones, to give a new flag carrier a chance.
Where is Jenbel?

If it secedes, you will have to be "security" rescreened when connecting in LHR T5 when arriving from Scotland.
At that airport they don't trust anyone arriving from Israel, the US or even the Europe the UK is a member of to allow them to connect directly and seamlessly gate-to-gate; the same logic will apply to passengers arriving from the foreign lands of Scotland as well, which will be subjected to the rescreening and charged an appropriately high tax.

Unless he's in transit HIDDY will have to apply for a visa to fly into LHR.

But the good thing is that UK APD won't apply from EDI or GLA. Those in the North of England will simply jump on a train in that direction to start their flights.

APD may be lowered in the event of a yes vote. More importantly, will EDI and GLA have the great ex EU fares that are often available from DUB (for example)?

BA's hub and main bases would still remain in the UK. And BA has been flying successfully to numerous destinations outside of the UK, subject to different regulations/tax regimes/regulatory requirements for many decades.
