So what is that space where those seats would be? i.e. if peace and quiet is my focus, should I choose that side or avoid?

Incidentally I am not sure I agree 1A on a 777 is the most private - flew it a few weeks ago and they put the chocolates on the raised area to the right of your feet, which is fine of course, but you do kind of have people stopping by you frequently to snack. And they are a pig to get out so its not a quick grab and go..!

1A/1K Gold Only Question
For the first time in 20 years of flying with BA I reached Gold at the weekend... Flying First next week with the other Mr Lucanesque, saw on ExpertFlyer that 1A/1K are still available so tried to move our seats - computer says no.
Rang up BAEC and they also said no... 1A/1K are strictly reserved for Gold card holders, so whilst they can move me, they can't move the other half (he's now down to Bronze). He's on the same booking reference as me, and I bought and paid cash for the flights. Is BA correct and he'd have to be Gold to fly in 1K?! |

Sort of - Booking prior to T72 - YES. After that they are open to all.

Honeymoon coming up soon and our first stop is San Francisco, we had been booked on the first SFO flight, 11:30, on the 777.
However, this morning there were two seats free on the San Jose flight, which at 15:30 should give us some nicer hours in the CCR. An extra 30 mins of transfer at the other end (SJC compared to SFO) will also give us the 789 instead of 777, which I am delighted about. I've got 2E/F reserved, just checking this was the right move? |

Great, thanks Castle25 for the confirmation... I misunderstood the power of the gold card and thought I could reserve "premium" seats for others on my booking :D

Not a 1st seating question but 1st check-in question.
Me and my wife are flying 1st in July and our daughter is flying on the same flight in CW. Can see use 1st class check-in with us? |

You can, except for 1A/1K in First.

Grab 1A/2A or 1K/2K now and try to get the other row 1 seat at T-72; that would negate the chance of pair of pesky Golds grabbing them both between now and then.
