what do people feel about 1A on the a380? currently looking at a seat map LHR-SFO that is wide open. i've only done 744 F and wonder if 1A on the A380 is too "forward" to be bothered by stairs an/or galley? thanks

The galley is at the back of the cabin and the stairs are only used but the CSD/CSM and flight crew.

I always choose 1A or 1K - never been bothered by noise or passing traffic whilst sat there and they seemed to have solved the noisy cupboard issues that plagued these seats previously. Go for 1A and see how you get on

I just came to this thread to ask that very question. Right now we ( couple) are in 2A and 3A on a 747. I had planned to try and grab 1A and 1K if they were available....but when I look at the actual cabin pictures...the seats look incredibly claustrophobic to me...facing a wall with no space in front of you. It is a daytime flight as well.....

Stick to what we have?

Here's my recent 1A - definitely not claustrophobic in my opinion and will always take of travelling with someone in 1K. Take 2A/K when travelling solo

I know there are some who feel that way but I don't. 1A for me (1A/1K for us) whenever possible.

Flew in First for the 1st time (and probably last) on a 747-400 and 1A/1K are the best seat for couple if you can get them. Had a super time and the crew were fantastic

On Saturday i'm flying LHR-LAX on the 777-200 flight.

At this moment I'm in 4A.

3A & 2A are taken,

But 1A has just become free, do you think its worth making the switch ?

I would on the 777, it's nice and private at the front.

I haven't seen a BA operated flight to LAX on the 200 in years, I'm 99% sure it will be a 300ER.

You are most likely right, I guess I thought it was a 777-200 because the code coming up for it in the GDS is

777

I thought the 777-300 with BA was coded as 777W.

Though when I look at the 935PM flight from LHR-SIN I know that is a 777-300, but the code in the GDS is also just 777.

Well I hope its a 777-300 , that would be much better

Though looking at BA Source, it seems to be a 777-300 over the entire month of JAN with the A380 serving the other flight

A couple 747 1A/K questions.

1. Have there been examples when these seats open up earlier than 72-24 hours before departure?

2. Is there a way to tell if these seats are actually occupied or just blocked for Premium members? The seat chart for my flight shows 1A/K the same color white ( unavailable) as seats that I know are occupied.

Can't answer 1, but I can 2 if you've got an ExpertFlyer subscription then you can see seat availability like this:

Results from ExpertFlyer.com

Seat Map Search:
Departing LAS on 04/06/16 for LHR
Flying BA flight 274 in First

A E F K
1P P
2+ -
3- -
4- + + +
5+ + + +
A E F K

Seats
Premium Only P
Available +
Handicap-Accessible H
Paid & Premium #
Occupied -
Blocked X
Lavatory L
Paid $

Location
Exit Row E
Wing W
Upper Deck U

In this example 1A and K are available but only to Premium Only (in this case, Golds).

Assuming you haven't got an ExpertFlyer subscription then post your flight details on the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...loads-166.html thread and someone will post back the results.

Thanks for the lead on the thread. I just posted my query.
