the wife and I will be travelling first from LHR DXB in November on 777-200. Seat wise, she wants to be at the window but I am not fussed so were thinking 4a & 4e. Any thoughts on whether the seats are aligned enough for us to talk? These (and 4f & 4k) are the only window/aisle combination available. We will do the middle seats on the return leg

First of all, welcome to Flyertalk!

I don't think maintaining a proper conversation across the aisle is really feasible.

I would go for 2K/3K on the right hand side window, and choose to dine together if you feel like it, seeing as the flight isn't that long anyway.

Thanks Fly the Flag. I had the same thoughts.

I know its a stupid question, but what exactly is the buddy seat - I don't get it!

The buddy seat is the area between the window and the IFE screen which you can see in the image below, it's not really a 'seat' per se but it's fine for the duration of the meal service, or for shorter periods of time.

I think that's a matter of opinion. I could not imagine sitting there for 5 minutes let alone for a meal service. Absolutely zero elbow room. Would not be a pleasant experience IMHO.

Hi,

Treating my mum to her first 'first' soon. As a gold I can book 1A/K but as she is only silver is it possible for her on the same booking as me to also be in 1A/K?

Many thanks

No, unless the other Row 1 seat is available at T-72 (or thereabouts).

This was in response to 2K/3K for a couple way back (December I think). Presume I've been sensible in swapping 1A for 3K as a sole traveller? (No 2K option available, nor 2A, nor 1K)

Yes, I think 3K is a better seat.

Do BA swap planes back to the original plane after a swap?
I booked 1A in a 747 and now the plane is a 777. Don't want to change seats and then find it has changed back to a 747 again.

Yes, they swap them all the time as an when circumstances dictate. The JFK route is pretty rich with aircraft swaps.

I think the aircraft swapping back is unlikely and would keep changing the seat.
