GGL Partner Card CIV

After my next flight I will reach the dizzying height of GGL.

I have searched, without luck, for a definitive answer to, "What CIV score comes with the Partner Cards".

Some say its the same as the GGL i.e. 98, some say its the normal start point for the Gold or Silver card.

Anyone know?

Can somebody please explain to me the fixation some people have with CIV scores?

What benefit(s) does having a higher CIV score confer on an individual?

Personally, I don't give a toss what my CIV score is!

British obsession with segregated class structure and knowing one's place.

It makes a difference in terms of Op Ups, onboard meal choices, assistance during IROPS, etc. Like so many things in life, I'd much rather have a big one than a little one!

Thanks for that! It does make sense.

PS. I also had to feed the fixation I have for CIV scores.

I've been curious about this - Anecdotally I've seen CCR Partner card types do much better on upgrades than plain old Goldies, but anecdotes don't tend to prove that much.

97.

My friend's comped Gold from me is a 36 - so as above it's the basic start point for Gold.

I had a massive one as a goldie, the envy of many, I had many admiring looks whenever the CSD got his tablet out.

Your statement works in theory, but even with a CIV in the high 80's I had flights in WTP where my first choice of food wasn't available, I've had flights where I was bumped from an exit row to a middle seat, and I've had flights where others were upgraded and I wasn't.

Perhaps BA9 back in January had 23 GGLs in, and I was the lowly gold.

There are 2 ways at looking at the CIV if your not paying or you have loads of money the highest level CiV for a gold is great.
But if you are paying the aim is get the level you want like Gold with the lowest CIV as it means you got there spending the least!
Above gold you trump others anyway so it becomes less important.

Smiley noted, but the question was why people have this desire/need to know/advertise their CIV score, not what it is used for.
