increase in seat reservation price
Checking my bookings this morning it looks like the cost of reserving a CE seat has increased from £20 to £22 and ET had gone from £10 to £12 overnight.
My next tatl is from oslo and I can't remember the old seat costs so I'm not sure if long haul has also increased.

Looks like you are right.
Pretty ruthless and brutal from BA.
Inflation has been between 1.5 - 2.0% all year and they impose 10 - 20% rises whilst all the time cleaning up from low oil prices aided by a weak dollar.
Coupled with the top down "enhancements" we are enjoying there is no doubt this is a naked money grab.

Looked at changing my paid-for seat for upcoming WTP to HKG
It says at top of page "We won't charge you extra to change to a seat of the same price as your previous seat"
However it now wants £3 for me to change my seat to any identical one.

Long haul went up as well...
I have the prices in euros, but on 747, the CW MD seats went from 72eur to 78eur - UD from 96eur to 102eur
Now I wish I had take them 3 days ago - last time I checked the bookings - instead to decide to wait :/

It's a completely optional charge...no-one requires you to pay for seat selection.
Not sure what the rate of inflation has to do with such an optional charge. Should it be linked to the inflation rate of the country of departure of the flight? Or the country of arrival? Or some weighted average of these two countries?
Anyways, if you want to have a moan about the increase in seat selection fees, then perhaps the most valid objection would be to compare against airlines that offer this for free.
